Elsa Costume ~ Why me :)

I saw a ton of them in Disney the week before Christmas. Are they sold out in the parks now? Might be just easier to wait until you get there:confused3

As a father of two girls also, let me say that I feel your pain. But it doesn't end once you have searched the web for hours on end and called every Disney store within a 300 mile radius. It continues once you finally find the dress, beg the staff at the store to hold it for you until you drive through a snow storm, in the dark, to get it. Then your daughter decides to start wearing the dress at home, only for you to find out that the Elsa dress is by far the most sparkly dress of any Disney princess dress they have ever owned and almost all those sparkles will blow off her dress like actual pixie dust being dropped by Tinkerbell herself. Of course no amount of vacuuming will get rid of it all and you will find every article of clothing you own somehow gathers it up for weeks on end. I particularly was fond of noticing the sparkles on my toothbrush (how I don't know, but there it was). I just can't wait to pack that dress in our luggage with all the other clothes!!

I am howling with laughter right now! I just love your story. Have a magical (and sparkly) vacation! You are a great dad.

I'm curious which pattern you're thinking of?

Probably nothing along the lines of the creations that you have made for your daughter! I have a favorite PDF pattern designer and belong to their pattern of the month club. The pattern this month is one she created for her daughter after they saw Frozen when it came out.

I'm not sure if I can link to the site w/o breaking DIS board rules. If I can, I'll post it!

Thank you. :goodvibes I think my daughter is done with the costumes. But I keep thinking if we can swap to Halloween maybe she'd give Elsa a try. So I'm just sort of looking at ideas right now. Can you PM me the link?

Oh my goodness... That is hysterical! lol

So it is not all bad having a 4 year old tom boy that thinks dressing like a princess is yucky? :-)

That's my daughter too.. But I have to say, she does really want to be Elsa for next Halloween. lol -Definitely a first for us. Usually it's Darth Vader, a ninja turtle or Michael Jackson.

We were there 12/19-29 and they were completely sold out. The Anna coronation dresses kept restocking but no Elsa. I looked and asked at each park because desperate parents kept asking us where we got ours. Thankfully I bought the Elsa dress from the Disney Store for DD4 on Black Friday.

My granddaughter is 2 and I got her an Elsa dress from KMart for Christmas! I only paid $20 for it! She loves it!!!!

It really is pretty - and sparkly! I agree with the previous poster - how much glitter can one dress hold!! lol

So, with a 24 year old DD and a 12 year old DS, I don't have to worry about snagging an Elsa dress for the next WDW trip. However, since we're doing a Dis Cruise in August before we hit the parks, I did pick up 4 pirate costumes at an online retailer for cheap. Yes, they're not the best quality, but they appear to be more than adequate for a fun night of "Pirates IN the Caribbean" aboard the Dream. ;)

And then I saw this thread. So, take a look at this.. They don't appear to be in stock yet, but they might be by the time you're hitting the parks...

And, take a look around the site for other costumes that might serve as a close-second to an actual Elsa gown.

Oh, and one more thing, my 24 year-old DD is named Anna, so I got lucky again! :)

Hope this helps somebody out here!

My 9 year old (will be 10 in April), who was "done" with princesses also wants an Elsa dress. It made me so happy!! :p

Wow what nice parents you are. I would NEVER pay that amount for a dress up dress!! Luckily my dd never wanted to dress in those. I can't fathom spending that on a costume.

This was a great read. Thank you so much!

We were very fortunate to get one of the last Elsa dresses in early December at BBB for our DG (4). She managed to fit into a size small which was all they had left. Hoping they are back in stock soon!!

I have seen them (about a week ago) at Target separately. Our Target (as of today) still had those dress up trunks with both Anna and Elsa dresses.

I'm just annoyed that Disney named a Princess Elsa. I have a six year old daughter named Elsa and it was a very uncommon name and now there are going to be a billion little girls named Elsa six years younger than her and everyone is going to assume we named her after the Disney movie in a few years after it is far enough away that people don't realize that the math doesn't work out on their assumption.

My Elsa is almost four. ::waves::

It's a family name, and after I saw the movie I thought, well, get ready for a boatload of baby Elsas in a few years!

Of course, I'm an Abigail, so I've been down that road myself.

My daughter loves "Queen Elsa with the ice powers."

That happened to my sister when The Little Mermaid came out. Even worse, her name is spelled the same but pronounced slightly differently so people never get it right.

I doubt that will happen. There might be a few, but it will not be a trend. I mean...you don't see a billion Meridas or Rapunzels around, right? :rotfl:

I think Elsa is much more likely. Those two examples are pretty strange for a regular modern name. Elsa is a pretty normal name that had just fallen out of fashion. We've met a few Elsa's but it was almost always middle-age+ women which was just fine with me. I didn't want a common name but I didn't want if to be weird either.

I don't know if you realize this or not but Isabella came from not being in the top ten to number one on the list for girls names for two years during the Twilight craze and then disappeared again. I just hope that doesn't happen with Elsa. Jacob was the boys name during those same years which is also from Twilight. Jacob has been popular for a while though so it's pretty hard to pin that one on Twilight.
