Does anyone know if ellen's universe of energy is a solar powered attraction? I could swear that I read or saw something that said it was the largest solar powered att. I hope someone knows the answer because there is now a small friendly wager and the matter of pers pride riding on the outcome. Thanks,

The ride is powered by the solar panels on the roof of the building.
Hope that helped w/the bet!

According to my "Behind The Scenes at Walt Disney World" booklet, which was published in 1987, "the Universe of Energy roof consists of 80,000 photovoltaic cells housed in 2,200 aluminum framed modules which generate 70,000 watts that are used to power the ride vehicles". So the attraction is not entirely solar powered.

I remember when it was called the Universe of Energy, they said that it was powered by solar crystals on the roof or something. So you could just be right. :earsgirl:

Well, you could say that its powered by the solar cells on the roof. But its not entirely so. The speil always said that the solar cells helped power the ride. Note the use of the word "helped". That could be anything from zero (ie, at night) to some large percent.
