The teachers at school did the Elf on the Shelf this year and my sons loved them. Where do you buy them? Do they go on sale? Just wondering if I could pick up some now or after Christmas cheaper and do at home next year.

I saw them at Barnes and Noble for 29.95. I frankly didnt like the regular ones. I felt like they were too stiff and I couldn't figure out too many places to put him on a shelf? So I bought the plush one! :cool1::cool1:

Cheaper ($12.95) and he is more flexible! He's peeking out of one of our plants right now. His name is Otto. This one doesn't come with the storybook or name certificate or whatever. Just the elf. And that is TOTALLY ok with me!

Do you want the official Elf on a Shelf package with book and elf included? I've seen it in stock at Borders and at Hallmark stores. I haven't seen any sales on them yet, but you could use one of your coupons if you're a Borders Rewards member, and they might mark them down after Christmas. They still had a huge stack at my local Borders the other day.

Elf Magic is a different version of the same thing. I think the elves they offer are cuter than the Elf on a Shelf guy, but that's just personal preference. I don't think they're as readily found in retail locations, but they can be bought online.

I actually went with Annalee elves (bought on deep discount at TJMaxx) and then I just made up my own letter, rules, etc. I know some folks think the Annalee elves are ugly, but I like them and I love that they're super easy to pose. :thumbsup2

Good Luck with your search. Having an elf visit is a lot of fun!

I bought an ornament for 5 bucks at Meijer (grocery store/home store) and used ideas from the Budget board.
His hame is Bo-Jingles and is a very young elf at 101 years old. He was sent by Santa to learn how good children act (since Santa has know our children for 10 and 7 years).
He's really gotten into some good (bad) mischief)

Wow, I sure didn't think they were $30! I will be looking into those other ones you posted, thanks!

I really know nothing about them at all. How old are your kids that like them? My sons are 6, and I don't think they believe they are real, but they love looking for where they are every morning. Now I'm wondering if next year they would be too "old". :(

My kids are 7,5, and 3. They are in L-O-V-E with Otto!

My children at 10, 9 and 9. They still love our elf. They look for him every morning. He sometimes does get into mischief though! They found him this morning under our Christmas tree. He had brought his own small decorated tree and tree skirt back with him from the North Pole last night.

We got the $30 Elf from Borders, but used a 30% off coupon they emailed to me. You need to sign up for Borders Rewards (free) and they send out coupons all the time. I think I got one today for 40% that could probably be used for the Elf.

The set comes with the elf and the book.

we have a family owned business in our town called Glass Mermaid....they have them on sale....they have Elf on a Shelf and Christopher Pop-inKins. I believe the website is glassmermaids dot com ...if not search glass mermaid seabrook tx and it will get you there.

We just bought ours last week and my daughter is very excited that he will possibly be back next year...
