My MIL is going with us to POR. I am wondering if there are elevaotrs at the resort. She has a heart problem and gets very winding when walking up stairs. TIA

From what I understand there are elevators in the mansions section of POR. Hopefully someone will come along and confirm this...:)

I am just back. The Alligator section I do not believe had elevators. If she has heart trouble (as does my mother) I would strongly suggest paying for a preferred building at ANY of the resorts.

Just an FYI
Preferred buildings (meaning the location is near a food court and main pool and a main bus stop) are only offered at CBR and the values. The other Mods and Deluxes do NOT offer preferred locations.

The mansions have elevators and the AB section at POR does NOT have elevators.

You may want to concider renting a WC or ECV from an offsite company for her to use if she has stanima issues.

Here is a link to the DisABILITIES FAQs which has a list of rental companies.
You can also find lots of help and any questions you may have about making your MIL trip to Disney more enjoyable for her and for you also on the disABILITIES board.

Have fun at Disney!:wizard:

We went in April of this year and my FIL has same issue. We requested handicap rooms to be sure this was a non issue

We were put in connecting rooms in Mansion building. Pagen or such.. I know you cross bridge and first building on right

Anyway, all the mansions have one elevator in the middle of them. It can still be a hike though from the bus stop to the mansion you are staying in.

Now the bellstaff was great and my FIL took got rides all the time to our mansion (basically around back where you could park). If you are drving, then non issue for you.

But just know that even with the elevators, it can be a hike..

Oh and even though their room was handicapped it connected to our double bed room with us and kids.. so not like we had to have a 2nd handicapped and put out someone else that needed the room

Thank you for replying. She is ok as long as there are no steps. I already requested the AB, but I guess I should call to change that.

No elevator in AB, but you over in the mansions you do have them. I would just request a first floor room as well as the reason why.

You can request a first floor room for "Medical Reasons". Those type of requests are filled before the general requests for other reasons.
