Elevator Etiquitte question..

Today DD's and I went to see my mom in the hospital. To get from the parking garage to her room, we had to board 4 different elevators (dont ask...stupid set up)

While waiting to board an elevator- myself and my DD's stand to the side, and wait for anyone to unload...if nobody moves, we get on...

Today- we got to elevator 3, and went to get off, as 2 bigger ladies got on....they blocked our path to the door, and we were unable to get off. I say bigger ladies- only because they blocked the doorway.

DD8 looked at me, with this pure horror face. She exclaimed "mom now what do we do, we were suppose to get off at that floor" I said- its okay we'll go up then come back down- extra elevator time.

DD9 turned around and said 'see Dani, thats why mom said we're suppose to wait for people to get off the elevator before we get on"

Guess they learned why, the ladies just looked at DD9 like she had 3 heads....jerks

How rude!!! Your dd's sound like they handled it just fine, and you too mom. I probably wouldn't have been so nice...

I wouldn't have been quite as nice either. I would have managed to get to the "stop" button and asked them to let us off.

Wow, you’re too nice. Did you even ask to get by? I would have said "excuse me" and if they didn't move, said it again in a rude voice. I never would have let the door close!

You know, I couldn't agree more. I did have some trouble with that today though. We were at my dad's appointment and had to ride the elevator. He was there from like 8 till 4, so we went out and in a few times. There was NO room to wait to the side on the bottom floor! It was so frustrating! No matter whether you were getting in or out, it was difficult.
