Interesting - like a poster on that thread I also did the Keys to the Kingdom tour and was told there was not an elevator. I'm not surprised that there is one backstage but would find it surprising that they would allow use except in a situation such as the tour where they all eat upstairs.
Just so you know, not everyone is as lucky. We've eaten at CHH several times and have never been able to get upstairs. They've always told us to use the roped off area on the main floor that is set aside for those with ecvs and wheelchairs.
