Can anyone provide info or a link to info pertaining to electronic plugs on planes? We are going to WDW in April/ May and my 6 year old nephew is taking a portable dvd player with. We are flying on SWA and was wondering where I could get find where or in what rows these electronic device plugs(basically like a cig lighter in a car) are locates so we secure the right row?

Our flight down is 5 hours and I'm sure the included battery pack won't make it that long and the player comes with an adapter .

Thanks in advance for any and all help!pirate:

SWA planes do not have passenger power ports, so you'll need to make sure that the batteries are fully charged before you board.

I find that carrying a multi-tap outlet adapter is very useful when traveling, as it lets me share scarce gate-area electrical outlets with other folks who need to charge electronic devices.

I am flying AA in June and I know they have power ports on the plane... what kind of adapter will I need to plug in my laptop?

Thanks.

it depends as there are different types in use. i think http://www.seatguru.com might tell you which is used on the particular aircraft (as well as which seats have them). it will explain the differences at least.

AA has them only in certain rows on certain types of planes. Not sure exactly which planes, but some of the flights I have been on had them every 4 or 5 rows.

Ok... I see my plane has DC Power which is the cigarette lighter style. I have a power inverter that I used to take in my car to play our tv. Can I bring that as my adapter or do I need a specific adapter? Then again, maybe I shouldn't worry as I usually get 5 hours out of my laptop and we have a 2 hour layover in St. Louis where we could recharge..... but it never hurts to be prepared...

i would only use an adapter specifically for your device. while the voltage is the same for all outlets, devices require different voltages and need to be stepped down so too much voltage doesn't find its way to the device, which could cause permanent damage (or the problem with using another device's adapter is too little voltage making its way to the device).

If you think you want to use the player the whole trip, consider getting a second battery. Note that a 5 hour flight might only have about 3-4 hours of electronic use time.
