We are going to be at Disney Oct. 4-11 and I've not seen anything about the electrical parade. Was wondering if it would be in operation then?
Also we will be staying at Best Western Pavilions & was wondering if it would be considered within walking distance of the Disneyland Park ?

Thanks

The DEP goes dark after Labor Day and won't return until Christmas peak season (about a week before Christmas).

Never stayed at the BWP but here is a guess using these links:

"How Far Is It?" (shows actual distances in feet from hotels to DLR entrance plaza) www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=mm060329as

"Bret's Disneyland Lodging Map" (shows hotel locations around DLR) www.geocities.com/ashpsyche/DisneylandLinkMap

From Bret's Map the BWP appears to be a little further than the Anabella Hotel if one walks up Disneyland Drive. From the first link above one can see the walk from the Anabella is 3,578-4,526 feet. It would therefore appear the BWP is within walking distance but it may be a fairly long walk (close to a mile).

Regarding the DEP, DangerMouse has it right. The DEP is considered seasonal and often goes dark for several months during non-high season like October.

And the new night-time show "World of Color" being designed for DCA in 2010 will likely mean the end of the DEP at DLR.

Thank you both for your help.
Hydro Guy you have some good advice. I especially like the fastpass info. Plan to put it to use.

Trey, I currently refuse to believe that since I've been reading on MC that there currently is work being done on new and returning floats for the DEP, including Tink replacing the Blue Fairy at the beginning (grrrr), as well the gold mine and pleasure island floats returning. I still believe they will return the DEP to Main Street in DL making it the MSEP for DL's 55th Anniversary. It is also rumored that they will be changing the music to Dreamlights instead of the traditional EP version of Boroque Hoedown.

No way!! No more "Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, Disneyland proudly presents..."

Like they say...if it ain't BAROQUE, don't fix it....!

You probably are aware that Disney is currently designing a new parade for DL to take over for Parade of Dreams (which is being shipped to MK I understand - why does WDW get all of DLR's old parades???). Not sure how they would run both DEP and the new one at DL? I have no idea what will happen with the DEP.

I really really hope you are right. I LOVE the EP  I tried Spectromagic at WDW, it just wasn't the same.

Maybe they'll run PoD (or whatever it will be) during the day and the EP at night? Like they do DCT and Spectro at WDW. :confused3 I really hope so. Not having the EP (at least at some point during the year) would be like not having caramel on my ice cream sundae :scared1: I'd still eat it, but it wouldn't be the same :guilty: (OK that's a lame analogy, but it's all I could think of on 3 and 1/2 hours sleep!)

Say it isn't true! I was so looking forward to seeing the DEP! the last time i saw it was back in the late 80s...about 20 years ago during my 1st trip to DL. I was there again back in 2003, but didn't get a chance to see it. :sad1: ...and how ironic that i find this thread...while i am working on my itinerary for our october trip. i guess i should go ahead and delete the DEP from my Friday plans...

I'm going to Disneyland for the first time November 7-9 for my 60th birthday. I was really hoping that EP would be running since it's a holiday weekend and the parks will be open very late. I guess I should be grateful that Pirates and Fantasmic have been taken off the rehab schedule so far.

What kind of shows/parades does DCA have if there isn't any EP or Aladdin?

Sondra
