Electric Scooter Questions

Hi, I was wondering if the electric scooter experts could give me some advice:

Will rental scooters (from approved Disney rental companies) fit in standard rooms (specifically POP, CSR, CBR)?

Can they charge at regular outlets in the room overnight or do they need special charging stations?

If the latter, where are those located at the above resorts?

Will they hold a charge for a full day at the parks & make it back to the resort in the evening without another charge?

Where do the rental companies deliver them, to your room or to the resort lobby?

Any issues anyone has had that would be helpful to know about?

Thanks so much!

Not an expert, but have been on a couple trips with a scooter driver.

Definitely at CBR and CSR. Not sure about Pop.

Regular outlets.

They will last all day.

To Bell Services.

Not that I can think of.

We travel with my parents who both need scooters to get around the parks,we are able to fit both scooters in a regular room by moving the table and chairs around but it is a little tight.

The chargers that come with the scooters plug into the regular outlets in the room.

The battery charge on the scooter will vary depending on the size and weight of the user, the length of time in the parks and if it is turned off when parked watching parades, fireworks, or waiting on others in your party to meet up with you. We usually carry at least one charger with us in case we need to charge a scooter in the parks.

The companies drop off and pickup the scooters at Bell Services at the hotel before we arrive.

We have used ScooterBug Inc for the last 4 Trips and have not had any issues with batteries not holding charges and dying and the scooters are always in good condition.

They have a few different size scooters available. We use the four wheel scooters because they seem to be more stable when turning because my dad had a stroke and is partially paralyzed on one side of his body. We had used the three wheel scooters but he turned one on its side one time when his weight shifted while he was turning. The four wheel scooters are a little bigger and harder to park on the buses but my parents really like the more comfortable seat and longer battery life.

i hope this helps you out with some of your questions.

All doorways are ADA compliant and wide enough for an ECV. All resorts, all room categories.

Yes, you can (and should) recharge the ECV in your resort room each night.

ECV’s should hold a charge for a full day in the parks if you turn it off when not moving, even for a few minutes. Some guests like to bring the charger to the parks just in case.

Featured vendors will utilize Bell Services (Luggage Services at value resorts) for drop-off and pick-up. Non-featured vendors will arrange to meet you personally. There is s list of vendors in the disABILITIES FAQs thread pinned near the top of the disABILITIES Forum. There are several current threads there about using ECVs.

Enjoy your vacation!

I have rented an off property ecv a couple times for my parents, and we were staying at Yc/Bc. It wasn’t super easy to get the scooter in and out of the room due to the turning radius. I don’t think I would want to try it at a value resort, but a mod should work since you don’t have to navigate a hallway when entering the room. We found the batttery lasted longer at MK and DHS than it did at AK and Epcot. I think those parks are less flat, and driving uphill took more power. We also took a charger to the park and when we ate table service we would top off the charge.

If you are traveling in warm weather, it’s good to take a small towel to cover the seat, and put the seat back down if you are parking in the sun to keep the seat cooler. Also, it’s important to keep the console dry if it rains and a shower cap works good for this if you aren’t able to cover it with a poncho.

VERY helpful! Thanks so much!

We just need a scooter for when we are in the parks. Can we rent each day and return same day ? Is there a designated area to find the scooter rental ? Should we reserve in advance ? If so, who would I contact ?

Every park entrance has a stroller, wheelchair and scooter rental area, right up front. Available at both entrances at Epcot. You can't reserve in advance, but there is almost always one available except during the really busy times.

You can pay at one park and then bring your receipt and rent at another park for only the security deposit.

I do it occasionally when my arthritis really acts up and I can't walk any more. The scooters are big and roomy, although the seat isn't adjustable height-wise and it creates a problem for me because I can't bend my knees all the way, so it becomes painful for me. I end up stretching my legs out in front, which also gets uncomfortable because my knees won't straighten all the way either.

Good luck!

This would be very expensive to rent daily compared to getting it from a company for the week. And walking around resorts etc can be pretty long. Just something to keep ! in mind
