Southern California El Capitan early on NYE?

We are going to DL on January 1 and 2, but will be driving up from San Diego on December 31. We are thinking about trying to see Star Wars at El Capitan at 1pm that day, but with three kids, we want to make sure the area isn't particularly hectic on NYE. I'd expect we'd be out of the area by late afternoon, but I wanted to check with those of you who know what it is like.

Would this work for a family? Any reasons to be concerned?

The area will start getting hectic closer to 9PM. Should be pretty easy to get out of the area after the 1PM showing.
