Car stunt Show,,.......at MGM......... ALL I can say about this one is boooooooooooooooooooooo........ CHeap, boring, attaction for the studio's ............. Maybe those in France likes this in there park.... Bad call for Disney........MGM needs "RIDES " not another stunt show..........you got INDY.....update it for God sakes... have Indy speeding around the Egypt set in a Dodge Viper running from the Germans and have him sea du in the cave away from the bolder..............What sad is .. If Eisner read this he would think it was a good Idea...... THE INDY Jones HOT rod showdown ................presented by Speed Channel.....

..............My view it's a bad call.... losing the x-mas lights for the Napa stunt show......I rather them put something in the attactions they already closed..... superstar TV, walking tour, hunchback show, replace that drew carry show, and please update star tours

if that turns out to be true they might as well change the name to six flags mgm. a car stunt show is pathetically scary. but has there been a press release about this i missed?

 Ok, I'm confused about this stunt ride in MGM. Are they tearing down the back lot houses ? I can't imagine there being enough room to have a stunt show with racing automobiles in that small area by the old hunchback theatre where they were re-doing the building facades . Some more details please, if anyone has them.

mitros,

Down with the backlot is pretty much the rumored plan. This is the first thread I've seen that suggests it's a done deal rather than still a rumor.

This may or may not be related, but word is out that Disney is already shopping around for a car sponsor. It seems that they've passed the rights to old TV show/comic The Green Hornet off to Miramax.

They don't have a script, they don't have a director, they don't have a star – but they're already going around asking car companies to put up $34 million for the "right" to design the new Black Beauty car for Kato to drive.

And please remember we are in the middle of Rumor-o-Rama season as Disney puts together it's budget for the next fiscal year. Something that receives a "green light" at one level can be killed dead at the next.

Have you peeps actually seen the stunt show? It's very cool, very unique, and very Disney-esque. And it fits the Studios' intended theme better than just about anything that's been added there in the past ten years.

I completely agree with you meow. My wife and I saw the show at the Walt Disney Studios last July and it was definitely an outstanding show. I was skeptical going into it, but it impressed me. Granted, there are other things I would like to see at MGM (and WDW for that matter), but if the show is similar to the France show, it will hardly be a step back.

Obviously, the implementation of it remains to be seen....

I've never seen a car stunt show but I think it could be fun particularly if there's a story attached. I'll personally give Disney a chance on this one.

I have seen the Stunt show in France twice. I like it. At the second time it was really cold so I was freezing all the time and I thought it was to long. But the Stunt Show is cool. I guess it is good for the Studios... It fits in perfect.

It was great to see all the tricks how such a Action Movie is made...

If people don't like stunt shows... don't go in and watch it... just ride another Attraction! ;) :D

I also enjoyed the car stunt show in Paris.

As for MGM. Hmmm. Car stunt show or Golden Girls house? Not a tough choice.

It gets me so angry the negative, biased, unobjective comments by some people on these boards. Sure, eisner is no saint(understatment), but the stunt show in Paris makes the U.S Hunchback and Beuty shows look poor in comparison.
I hope this rumour is true. It is one hell of a show

 Have you checked out the site suggested by meowthew2? Looks like the ENTIRE back lot would have to go in order to make room for that stunt show. It appears to take up an enormous amount of space. Not that I would particularly miss things like the bone yard {same stuff, there too long} and catastrophe canyon is getting old as well. I guess the tram ride goes as well in that case.!:o

MGM needs "RIDES " not another stunt show

I agree. MGM is desperately lacking in the ride category. StarTours is outdated and in dying need of replacement. If it weren't for ToT and RnRC you'd have a tough time selling this as an all day fun fair for the entire family. There's not enough life in the other sections of the park.

The stunt show may be a great change for certain venues and quick and painless to introduce but what I really want to know is what else is on the table?

I don't like car shows.

I'd prefer a ride.

Iv'e seen car shows, dont care for them.

Never been to paris don't plan on going to see the car show there.

MGM needs "RIDES " not another stunt show..........you got INDY.....

Amen. "OOOh i just got out of the indy stunt show, lets go to the car stunt show." I dont like it. I think Indy should be updated or a another ride put in.

A car stunt show TO ME sounds, feels, will look cheap. How bout another attraction on the lines of TOT. good themeing, good queue, good story. If MGM has a ton of movies at it's disposal why not create something new and monumental not something already done. wheres the innovation disney is known for. Thats why im pessimistic. Lets see deuling dragins does well at IOA right? great lets put a deuling snakes in mgm, it be wonderful.....

I'm tired of people content with mediocrity because there is nothing else to be content with.

Boy, do I hate to have to be the voice of reason, around here.

mitros, I didn't look at the referenced site because I have about as much interest in a Car Stunt Show as BRERALEX just expressed. At this point, though, that's about as much replay value as the Backlot Tour holds for me.

So I'm not cheerleading fer or agin'.

AV said a postful: most of the rumors that are going around now are simply people at various levels jockeying for position in different budgets. I suspect the Car Show is seen as a strong horse in this race because new Parks guy Rasulo reigned over the successful DLP version, and might have a fatherly affinity for the project being Zeroxed worldwide.

This sucker is NO WHERE NEAR budgeted for, gang. Jay may or may not prove to be a Presslar-ian "if you make it over and over and over again they'll just keep coming" type. Believe me, I'll be the first one to point out where the decision is stupid, once it's made, but until it's made... ?

I wouldn't be enormously surprised if "get Osbourne Lights out of Disney Studios" wasn't a bullet point in favor of this possible decision, by the way. All those folks milling about the Studios in the evenings really need to be in World Showcase or Downtown Disney where all the shopping centers and pricey restaurants are, ya know...

First let me say I did see them start to do some surverying at the back of NY street a couple of weeks ago. It did occur to me that those backlot house facades were getting a little under the weather - they aren't built like a permanent house and have back's open. Also, Melissa was really noticing and commenting on how bad the canyon looked and how bad it needed to be rehabbed.

Now let me first echo WFH's echo of AV - anything in the rumor mill is a proposal type of thing.

OK, now here is the thing. I am not sure if you all are thinking about what this whole proposal is - you are correct, at least I agree, the studios do not need TWO stunt shows. You are correct, at least I would agree, that the stuidios need new attractions. You would also be correct, or at least I would agree, that the studios do not need TWO attractions themed to Indiana Jones. Do the math and think about what the package deal would be here.

I can't speak directly to the economics, but the Paris car stunt show didn't look cheap. You have the cars (with I'm sure oodles of maintenance) and the professional drivers to hire year around, and the facades were quite neat. To me, it seemed like a very big, lavish production, much more so than a stage show, or a spinner ride.

As for copying Indy, I think it looks and feels much different. Universal Hollywood used to have the Wild West Show and the Miami Vice show and they both felt very different. I think this will be the same.

Dino-Rama sounds like a better place for a car show than the Studios ;)

But seriously, the Studios *badly* need a couple more rides, and they have more than enough shows. While I am not opposed to them building this, I am also not excited about it.

A wooden roller coaster or a new dark ride would be much more interesting to me.
