Our hearts go out to the victims and their families on 911, eight years ago today, we still remember you.

At this point in time I watched with total incredulation as the towers came down and realised that the world would never be the same again.

Peace be with you

Thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this horrible atrocity

I am still in utter shock when I see footage of 9/11, and like everybody I can remember where I was when I saw the attack unfold.

May all the victims rest in peace.

It had quite a major impact on my day which I remember very well. Myself and my colleages were in our usual lunch spot (a central london pub) and the landlord put the news on the big screen, pub was pretty empty at this point and we watched as the second tower was hit. Within minutes all our pagers went off, back to the office we went straight into a senior meeting. If you remember at the point at least one other aircraft was missing and our boss had been told by a senior member of London's Major Incident team that it was considered the missing plane could be heading for the Houses of Parliament. I worked in the IT dept of the (then) largest NHS Trust which happened to be located directly across the River Thames from the Houses of Parliament. I remember every northern hempishere news website was jammed and we had to get most of our news from Australian site. We made the descision to shut down the IT dept, and relocate to our underground DR bunker (yes, we had one) which means legally the hospital can no longer admit patients. The hospital went into full Major Incident mode and no longer admitted A&E patients. To be honest, sad though it is to say, 9/11 was probably the most interesting and challenging day of my working life.

I visitied ground zero just a short five months after, and even then families paced up and down posting pictures and messges on the public spaces around the area, reaching out for any news of their loved ones. One of the sadest sites I have even seen.

It is hard to believe it was 8 years ago,:sad2:

Unfortunately it's my birthday today and I have to say I will always associate the date now with what happened. My birthdays are always tinged with sadness as I remember the victims of that terrible day. I've been watching the programmes on TV lately about 9/11 and I feel just as sad now as I did then. I still can't believe something like could happen.

I was a travel agent when 9/11 happened, it was my day off though so I was at home. I can remember watching the images on Sky News and just crying. I don't think I have ever seen anything that has upset me as much as that did. The following few weeks at work were so distressing, people too scared to travel on their dream holidays, it was a terrible time for them. Being a Cornish girl I would just like to remember Rick Rescorla on these pages - a true hero. My thoughts are with his family, and the families of all the innocent people who lost their lives on this tragic day.

I remember being in a meeting at work. Someone had seen breaking news online and we watched the news footage. The images stunned us into silence. A terrible human tragedy.

Thoughts are with those who were affected on this day 8 years ago:hug:

Those 8 years have passed by so quickly! :sad2:

It was my best friends 18th on that day and it was so hard to celebrate after that had happened in the morning. We sat at watched the TV over and over.

We'd left college for the afternoon and heading home when we heard two lads talking, about what we thought at the time, was a computer game or something, only to get home and see it all unfolding and happening for real! :sad1:

Terrible day - god bless all those who were lost that day.

I spent the day remembering 9/11. I watched 102 minutes that changed America this afternoon and also watched bits of CNN.
I remember the day very well, we had just moved into our new house in Leicestershire and as i was unpacking i had the news channel on. I pretty much saw it all unfold from the beginnig and was glued to the TV for the rest of the day. the events seemed unreal, yet i knew that day would have a place in history.
it was such a sad loss of life, my thoughts are with everyone affected by this terrible tragedy.xxx

This tragic event and all the thousands of people affected by it have been in my thoughts all day.:sad1:
