Hi All,
Here are some more reviews of our DDP experience:
Day three:
We had originally planned to eat dinner at Tony's Town Square, but the reviews that I had read on this site were kind of iffy, so I called and canceled those ressies, and made lunch ressies for LTT. Yes, I have read the unkind reviews of LTT and its affiliation with Stouffers, but I was intrigued by the Salmon dish the was on the lunch menu. So off to LTT we went.
At LTT we were served by Sandy, who was hands down the nicest, most attentive and informative server that we encountered at WDW. She did an awesome job. My DH and I both ordered the same app and entree. Our appetizer was the blue crab cake on fire roasted corn succotash. It was delicious, full of big chunks of crab, and the acidity in the succotash was a nice compliment to the richness of the crabcake and tartar sauce. A+.
For our entree, we had the cider-cured salmon on griddled pumpkin bread with butternut vinaigrette. It was a bright, colorful presentation with the orange of the vinaigrette and spring green mache. It was very good, but a tad too sweet for both of us (but we cleaned our plates!) For dessert, DH had the butter griddled poundcake and I had, at Sandy's recommendation, the Liberty Shortcake. Well, the poundcake was really good, warm and gooey and covered with warm pecan caramel sauce, so I moved the ice cream off of my shortcake over to DH's plate and shared. The shortcake was blah, just biscuits scattered with a few berries with vanilla ice cream. I left it behind, not worth the calories. 2TS.
For a late dinner that night, we drove over to Coronado Springs to visit the Pepper Market, another place that I had read about on DIS. It is an interesting and overwhelming place, with way too many choices. My first impression was that it seemed a bit dirty (I am a safety and sanitation freak!)
but we went ahead and ordered from the Mexican kiosk. DH had a Shark Burrito, which he enjoyed, and I had a Chicken Quesadilla that was very basic and satifying. Both entrees came with black beans and rice. Dh got a cinnamon roll and I got an M&M cookie, and they both ended up in the trash. Glad that we tried it, but we won't go back. 2CS.
Day Four:
We did the Segway Tour at Epcot ( It was a blast!) so we wandered over to the Tangierine Cafe for a quick lunch. We shared the Chicken Shawarma platter, that had some chicken-like meat (like gyro meat) and served with hummus, tabbouleh and a CousCous salad with Moroccan bread. The meat had a yogurt sauce that was very good. DH was very happy with this meal (we go back for more on our last day) and I epecially enjoyed the side dishes. I thought that the meat was texturally objectionable. We had the obligatory baklava for dessert. and it was enjoyable. 1 CS
We really looked forward to our dinner at Kona, because it always one of our favorite places. So you know what's coming, don't you? Our server, while being very nice, was totally buried the whole evening so we hardly saw him. We each had crab cakes to start. A beautiful plate, but they were nowhere near as good as the ones we had at LTT. We each ordered ( I know, we are boring and get the same thing all of the time!) the char crusted filet, Medium rare. DH's was MR and very tasty, and I was offered little charcoal briquettes with a dab of demiglace. Fortunately, DH shared with me and we each had one good chunk of filet, and one way over-done chunk. Why didn't we send it back, you say? Well, I waited for the two bite/two minute dinner check, and that never came. We did not see our server again until after our plates were cleared. I understand that he was busy, but was disappointed none-the-less. For dessert, DH went for the banana creme brulee (big surprise!) and I had the chocolate macadamia nut tart, which was quite good, not nearly as sweet as I had expected. I could only eat two bites as the days gluttony made me feel that I was about to burst. We also had a couple of Mai tai's, and they were great. 2TS.
I will rest my digits and continue the gluttony series tomorrow.
Jackie
