We just got back from Paris yesterday, and no there are no "official" photographers at the Eiffel Tower. Probably the best view is from the Trocadero, and what we did was just ask another tourist to take our photo, in lieu of us taking theirs. Usually works pretty well. My wife has the camera, so I dont have a pic to post, but as soon as I do, I'll share. She also has a Nikkon and a Cannon and I believe we took pics with both.

Hi hope you are not to jetlagged.I would love to hear about your trip.Ihave a hard time with my Nikon i put it on Auto but sometimes the pictures dont come out .I would love to get a point &shoot camera but it would need to have biggest zoom lens as i found you cant always get close enough.Iwould love to get a good picture of My 3 kids together but it looks big so i guess need to be a bit away thanks so much T:cool1: :cool1:

as mentioned the best view of the Eiffel Tower is from Trocadero - it is possible to get some really good pics from here and you would get it all in as well as you are a distance away. I'll try and post some tomorrow.
It is then a lovely walk from here down to the Tower

Thanks its a small world.Someone suggested a tripod but with 3 kids bymyself .I want to limit my luggage as i am coming from usa. Look forward to seeing your pictures.

Come to think of it, on our first trip in 2007 we went to the Trocadero on a random weekday afternoon and there were no people around, which is rare. We set the point and shoot on a step with the timer on and then ran into the shot. It wasnt the greatest of pics, but it did the job. This is a shrunk down version, so its not as clear as it actually turned out..
