Eeyoregon's April 22-29 Magic Report (long)

I have been reading your reports. While it sounds like you had a fabulous cruise, I am sorry to hear about the ending.
I hope everyone gets better soon. There is nothing worse that having a sick child.
Take Care.

It's scary how you can get noro even with the precautions---hope you don't get it. At least it didn't spoil the cruise and cause you to be stuck in your room.

Were they passing out hand wipes at the dining rooms? What about CMs serving at buffett?

Did you notify DCL? They probably want to keep track of that.

Thanks for a great report.

BethA:

I am amazed that DS 13 picked up the virus considering the extreme cleanliness measures on board. Hand wipes and sanitizer at each dining room and kids club. We served all of our own food at the buffets and Palo brunch. But like I said, all it takes is germs on a hand rail, basketball, arcade game, etc.

It's just such a tricky virus because it hits SO fast! At check-in at the port they ask you if you have had any of the symptoms. But in reality, if you have been exposed in the last 24 hours and the symptoms haven't hit, then you wouldn't know until on board and then it's too late. Plus you are contagious for 72 hours after the first symptoms, which is a long time.

Several people on our cruise weren't as lucky and fell ill during the cruise. I did call DCL and report our situation and I also informed the staff at SSR so they could clean our room extra well!

I am still bug free, knock on wood!

Quick update: I have filed a lost luggage claim with the trip insurance company for my son's lost backpack. Crossing my fingers and waiting to see if we get any compensation for the over $500 in contents. They of course wanted receipts, of which I have none. Next best thing was to itemize each item in detail and submit the list.

Send me some pixie dust!

Sending you extra pixie dust! I hope they reimburse you for the items. Faith hope and pixie dust- remember! :)

I enjoyed reading your trip report!
That was extremely cool -the part about how they gave food/fuel to the boat!

Finally made it to the evening show and enjoyed it very much. Hated the reclining theater seats! At 5 feet 2 inches short, when the seat reclined, my feet no longer touched the floor (Dzynjenn found this to be most funny) and my legs promptly went numb!!
OMG I thought I was the only one that this happened too. LOL Yes, I'm also 5'2 short and my legs also went to sleep at each show. I tried to avoid it by crossing my legs but it was hard to cross my legs when my feet weren't touching the ground! And even doing that only made the feeling come back to one leg anyway. LOL

Dzynjenn rocks... she really sounds like the best person EVER to have as a friend.

Loved your trip report and I hope by now things are much better with both boys! :grouphug:

I'm a single Mom that took the 4 night cruise and had a lot of "ME" time too! I swear that DCL is the BEST single Mom's vacation in the world!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for sharing! :goodvibes

Well, the trip insurance denied our claim as we "did not do everything in our power to protect our bag from being lost." Nice. :sad2:

Moral of the story: trip insurance is great for catastrophic loss but not so great for anything less. We are out $500 for the contents of his bag. Live and learn.
