EEH vs. DAH

I know that this has been alluded to in other posts, but looking for any advice, especially now that more DAH events have happened.

We are headed to Disney in March. I don't understand why they book EEH and DAH on the same day, but they do. Do have about $850 in Disney gift cards and can cover the majority of the cost of both DAH. I know that no one can determine for me VALUE, but I'm looking for opinions on those who have done both and any thoughts you might have on one vs. the other. Like how crowded are EEH vs. DAH? How long are waits? I hope all this makes sense and TIA!

If it worked for my schedule, I do MK with EEH and G+ and then After Hours for Hollywood Studios. I haven't been to EPCOT EEH, but I hear the issue is how spread out the attractions are.

The hotel list for EEH is very short. It even got rid of Waldorf and the Ritz. This is great for riding rides. But there's nobody there. No food (maybe a stand or two?), no parades, no photos, it's a different thing.

If you want the snacks and the party and all that, it's going to be AH. I'd pick EEH every time.

Spending your giftcards won't be a problem, I'm sure. I wouldn't spend $800 on it for sure.

We are at Beach Club, so I think we should be good.

Do you mean there are less people at EEH?
From pre-Covid AH, absolutely. From videos of post-Covid AH, maybe? Some of the early ones seemed really sparse, but it looks like the recent ones are packed in. EEH is empty. It's kind of creepy it feels so empty.

At EEH, we just sit on Soarin'. While it's not TT, it is a major headliner. So, yea, that's the crowd level.

Thanks. We have always found Soarin' to be pretty empty, especially in the last 30 mins. I haven't FP'ed it in years for that reason (pre-COVID, obviously)

DAH review, we did the event on 1/18 at Hollywood Studios (and as a byproduct missed the MK EEH event). However this was a "fully sold out" event and we walked onto everything sans exception to ToT which was an actual 5 minute wait since they are running 50%. We had plenty of mickey bars, popcorn and drinks and simply strolled around.

Would do again every time if it existed when we return

On our most recent visit, we only did EEH. The waits were all pretty short. If I was staying at BC already and had a choice of EEH or paying extra for DAH, I'd choose EEH every time.

One factor is that you can't control the weather. With any paid event, the weather might be great, or it might be lousy. During storms, many attractions stop running.

G+ is another factor to consider, and how much you are morning people vs. night people. With G+, more or less, you kinda have to start booking passes at 7am. Pairing G+ at 7am AND staying out until midnight= a long day. So I think the decision isn't just one or the other, but what else are you planning to do, and what is the make-up of your group? If everyone is high endurance or low endurance, or a combo, that matters.

When we go, we have a car, so that helps. Waiting on a bus late at night = an even later night. From BC, the Epcot EEH is a reasonable walk with no waiting on a bus. Getting back to BC from MK via bus will take longer.

I would also say the value of either depends a bit on how hard core you are. Are you happy riding each attraction once over the course of your visit, or are you looking to ride everything 5 times? If you plan to relax the day of the DAH, and use it in place of buying a park ticket then that might make it more worthwhile one of the nights. But I'm am still inclined to say you have already paid for the EEH. Buying the DAH makes more sense when staying at any place that is not a deluxe hotel.

Trying to decide between going to Epcot's extended evening hours or springing for the after hours party at MK.

Has anyone done both? If it was your last night of vacay, which would be the better experience? Is the after hours cost worth it when extended evening hours are "free" for deluxe resort guests?

Thanks in advance if you can help!

If money is no issue, then the after hours at MK is better than EE hours at Epcot. Epcot has three big attractions which usually have 30ish minute waits. You do have the chance at the 6pm Guardians drop, it is not guaranteed and hard to get. Those rides will eat up your whole night (plus all the walking). If that was my only option, and it’s free, I would certainly go.

If you have never been to an after hours event, it’s unreal. Walk on everything, free snacks, and cool crowd less pictures. You feel like a VIP. My only suggestion is to save your energy during the day so you can go go go during those three hours. Again, cost is an issue here and if you have 2 days prior of MK, you might be tired of MK by that point and it wouldn’t be worth the money.

This is seriously a personal decision.

No help, but this is where we are too. We can either do two after hours parties OR After Hours at HS and EEH at Epcot.

You couldn't do both unless you are there for more than a week as those are on the same night. MK EEH and AH for HS are on Wed except for 2 weeks in Feb where AH for HS falls on Tuesday.

Technically, there is only one date that this would work. Hollywood Studios After Hours is never on Tuesdays and always on Wednesdays except for the Sunday, April 2 event we are attending. Not sure on the OP's exact dates, but YMMV.

i've been to two epcot EEH and epcot sprawl is a real thing, along with how time much so many epcot attractions seem to eat up. but with GotG in the mix, there's a decent array of rides at the front of the park (including frozen, which is not far from test track, but i have no interest in getting wet that late).

the back of world showcase (from france to norway) closes when the park does, so choose which way you leave that area carefully. remy is far from everything else, so i would save it for last if leaving from IG and probably skip it during EEH if leaving through the main gate.

i'm sure you'd get a lot more done at MK AH, so it's up to you how much you value that experience vs. expense.

In February HS DAH is still on Wednesdays, but it looks like MK EEH is shifted. For Princess week, EP EEH and MK DAH are on Monday, MK EEH is on Tuesday, and HS DAH is on Wednesday. We chose to skip MK DAH so that we can do one night at each park. HS DAH is our priority since we like a lot of the rides there and they don’t typically have EEH. You can get a good amount of rides done with either one. When we did EP EEH, I took our oldest to GotG and DH took the younger ones to do Ratatouille multiple times. They wanted to do Nemo right before it ended and it was completely empty. We had the aquarium area to ourselves which was really fun for them.

If purely for the access to the quieter parks would we be better to stay in a delux resort and use EEH or a moderate/value and book after hours events for MK and HS?

We've been to the MK after hours event before Covid and the park was so quiet it was great. We've never done the delux EEH. Just wondering peoples thoughts/experiences of which were less crowded? Thanks

Please read the responses above as that is what this thread is discussing.

Both have low crowds.
