We've never driven to WDW (recently moved a *bit* closer, though we are still taking 2 days to drive there!) and I am feeling a bit panicky!! I know I am probably going to over pack because I have a whole minivan i can fill up :)

any tips or thoughts or anything that you found really helpful either for a drive or for your WDW stay? I am trying to think if there's anything i really need!! Eeeekkk!!

I'm so excited, but also a mix of OMG There's so much to do!!!

one major tip I have found for driving, have a small bag easily getable for your overnight. that way you do not need to unpack most of van to repack in morning. just throw the one bag in and ready to go. when our girls were little this bag was at their feet at the front row of back seats. if you have kids make sure not all of surprises are given first day keep a few for second day. have a great trip

Take a cooler. Diving gives you room to take a cooler for taking drinks along to cut cost of drinks on the road, and if you need it, to keep drinks cold in your room. Have a car toy bag, and a room toy bag if you have young kids. Be sure not to leave any thing in the car bag that can't get very hot. Having different things makes the toys in the car a bit more appealing for the ride home. Try to have something NEW for the ride home. Hide and save something from home, or purchase at WDW, but having something makes that sad trip home easier. Take a laundry bag for dirty clothes, easy to toss in the back of the van to go home.Say yes to that balloon that could not go home on the plane, and enjoy leaving on your time and not being strapped to DME time:). We mostly drive but are flying down this Summer and it's a toss up to me which way I prefer!

We drive and can make it in about 8 hours, but we have gotten excited and left the day before and driven after DH got off work, we normally can make it to Valdosta or Lake City before we have to stop.

A cooler is a must, this way you can save money for important Mickey things. We would take the larger one, but I also would take a small collapsible one for when we would head to the pool. Again another way to save money at the pool, just remember no glass. Food bag with snacks, don't forget the wet ones for easy clean up.

Bring their games and electronics', possible a new game. ipad for movies don't forget the head phones. Check out the dollar store for Mickey items, I always stock them up, but like a previous poster suggested give them out over a period of time. Books, Coloring books, stickers, You can have them make envelope's for Mousekeeping's tips. Or decorate a poster for the window.

I agree with the one night bag Just PJ's and change of clothes for the next day.

When DD's were little, stopping somewhere to eat so that they can play was always a must so that they can burn off some energy and excitement. We like to stop at Chick Filet they have a play area but not really a huge one so it was easy to get them out and on the road again. Also another trick to burn off energy was when stopping at a rest area for a break we would let them race each other, but out of the way of other people. or we would walk the length of the sidewalks with them, this was great everyone got to stretch their legs a bit.

Have a magical time

Thanks all!! We can't wait & the tips are great!! I'll post more once we are on the road !
