So, now that the sneak previews are over, has anyone heard if they are doing any kind of soft opening? TIA!

Disney always has "soft openings" for new rides. The trick is to in the right place at the right time. A few years back when Mission: Space was having it's soft openings I read here on the DIS about it. The info was that it was opening only during weekday evenings. Sure enough, during the day it was closed off. As evening approached they moved the barriers and we were able to ride every night that week.
Keep reading over here and you will find out when the soft openings for Everest start.

Deb Willis' All Ears Newsletter just announced that soft openings are starting now through April. The exact days and times are at the parks discretion so you have to ask or keep walking by the ride to see if they are running it. I also received an email from the Disney company stating that Everest would be available to ride during my trip (I leave on the 4th) on a soft opening basis.

Here is wishing for pixiedust:

I've heard (from a CM on another board--wdwmagic) that if the gift shop is closed for the day, the ride definitely is not planned for soft open. so there is no reason to linger. If the gift shop is open, the ride *might* be open too---linger at your discretion. ;)

This is funny because I was told by a CM that the gift shop will always be open, regardless of the fact that EE is only in soft openings right now. If this is true, then having the gift shop open will be no indication of whether or not EE will be open that day

Thanks everyone!! We were lucky enough to ride Mission Space like this! hopefully this thread will stay alive and we will get info on the patterns for opening!!

Apparently EE was open last night during evening EMH at AK from 6-8. Here's hoping we can find a trend here!

EE was open this morning right at 9am. DH & I were there until around 10 or so. Not many people seemed to know or even know what EE was. It was empty and we walked on every time. We walked by again around 11ish and it was closed. We left around noon so not sure about the rest of the day.

This is a good sign for next Thursday ~ guess I have to push myself so that we get up and out of the house and to AKL early enough so that we can catch a soft opening. If we don't catch it on Thursday I plan to try Friday morning. If anyone else has EE soft opening experience please post.

I'm leaving to WDW in 4 days, hopefully you guys can figure out the soft opening pattern before that. I know I can count on DIS Board more than anything else. Thanks!!

Looks like EE is likely to be open! I read on wdwmagic that it is pretty much open now and another thread mentioned it being opened alot. Yippee! The day after we arrive is EMH morning at Ak so, guess we'll start in Asia. Wondering what the new suggestion will be for touring AK now to squeeze in safari, ee, kali, etc?

Wouldn't you think that people would be able to see the roller coaster shooting around from miles away? Or are the ride vehicles not visible to park-goers?

We got lucky and rode it last thursday. I happened to notice the board in the middle of the park that listed the different attractions and wait times and EE was listed with a 5 min wait so we ran over and it was open. maybe check that board right when you get in the park to see what it says.

I was in Orlando last week and saw TV commercials for it. They said "now open".

Just down the street from they just put up a huge billboard sign that says Face EVEREST Disney Animal Kingdom. My DH told me about it then my sister told me about it. My DH said you can't miss it so I had to see it for myself. Made me even more excited that it will hopefully be open next week when we are there!!!

We rode it on the 3rd. Walked on once around 10:00 and fast passed around 12:00. We asked to ride in the front the first time. It was so worth it! :cool1: It was pretty much open all day. The CM's would ask us if we've been on it yet (when we were on other rides). :woohoo: Have fun everyone! It's a cool ride.

Idroveallnight, I almost bumped this yesterday. Luckily bjkj just confirmed what I am hearing on other boards. This ride is OPEN!!! Where is all the fanfare here? I don't think people know it is really open. I heard that they close periodically to work on glitches, but it is essentially up all day. I will be there exactly this time next week for EMH on the 13th. If my calculations are right, we will be riding that baby then! I will definitely do a post unless others give us the final green light with a full report on whether it is truly open before I get there. Sounds like it has been open pretty much all day since wed emh evening.
