Are you ready?

I'm an Elementary Education major. Here are some websites I've used in the past. Some may be outdated. Some may not be completely kid safe -- they may be able to link outside of the site. Okay, you asked for some, here you go:
www.specialed.about.com - Special Education Home Page. This is an excellent site with tons of links that will lead you all over the Internet to all things related to special education.
www.earlychildhood.about.com - Early Childhood Educators Home Page. This is a great site with tons of links that will lead you all over the Internet to all things related to early childhood education.
www.k-6educators.about .com - Elementary Educators Home Page. This is one of the best sites on the Internet that has to do with Elementary Education. The site has thousands of links to all things related to: student teaching, substitute teaching, new teachers, expert teaching, lesson plans, classroom sites etc.... Great site!

www.disney.go.com/educational/classroom.html - Disney Educational Productions - For Your Classroom. Great web site with lots of Disney links.
www.whaletimes.org - Whaletimes SeaBed. A marine animal site about whales, dolphins, sharks, penguins and more.
www.seaworld.org - You can get great information here about all types of animals. They have a link that is great for lesson plans. Although this is owned and operated by SeaWorld, this is not the same as
www.seaworld.com. which is their site about the SeaWorld Theme Parks.
www.thewildones.org - Scientists. Excellent site about people working all over the world in the field of science and conservation.
www.globe.gov - The GLOBE Program. This site is about GLOBE (Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment) schools throughout the world.
www.myhero.com - Anyone Can Be a Hero. This is an incredible site about people (and animals!), that have made some sort of remarkable impact in our world. There are links that the heroes would be (or would have been) interested in.
www.k-6educators.about.com/msub110.htm?rnk=r&terms=public
ations+ - Publications for Elementary School Teachers. This is a great site about education publications that are available.
www.enchantedlearning.com

www.family.com - lots of information about all kinds of stuff!
www.mankato.msus.edu/dept/comdis/kuster/kids/kidsfun.html -
Kid Fun. This is a great, fun site with links for kids of all ages. Scroll down the page to the link to Gustown and check out the toy store. It is alot of fun! They try to keep all of the links as safe as possible for children but they advise staying
with young ones while they surf the net, just in case. (The link to: The Yuckiest Site on the Internet is too yucky for me!)
AOL:Endangered Animals Mania - a web site scavenger hunt through theInternet to find endangered species! Lots of fun!
www.amazingadventure.com - The Amazing Adventure Series - Read Along Stories.
www.send4fun.com - This is an electronic card site for kids. They can send silly jokes and pranks to each other via e-mail. It IS NOT completely kid safe. It is a great way for friends to have a water balloon fight without getting wet!
www.20q.net/ - Twenty Questions. Go ahead, try your luck against the computer. Think of something and the computer will ask you 20 questions to try to guess what you are thinking of. It is entertaining, educational and eerie! The site is free, but you must either register with a screen name and a password (good if you want to keep track of how many times you beat the computer and vise versa), or use the anonymous registration, before you can play.

http://dww.deafworldweb.org/asl - Handspeak: A Sign Language Dictionary, learn sign language online. They will walk you through step by step.
www.africam.com - one of my favorite sites on the web! There are over 15 different animal reserves that have about 10 or 20 cameras located through out the parks. Every 15 seconds a photograph is sent to the web so you are almost live on safari at any time! There are shark cams and whale cams too. Because this action is live, you may come across some activities that sensitive children (or adults like me!) may find hard to handle, such as a lion or shark getting their dinner, so you may want to view this site with those that are a little turned off by that sort of thing. It is interesting and lots of fun to watch baby animals play! There are video files to watch and diaries of the naturalists and photographers to read. It scared me to death to read the diary of one photographer at the shark cam who was sitting in a boat and turned around to find a great white shark with its head sticking out of the water staring at him! It scared him more than me, Im sure, but it scared me half to death just reading about it!
www.wheresgeorge.com - I have not tried this yet but I think some kids may find it fun to track their re-circulated dollar bill on its journey around the country.
