Has anyone been to the Edmonton passport office during the past week. We will be there mid week, on Jan. 31 and were wondering what to expect for wait time. The news mentioned that people were lining up at 3 am and I'm not sure if they are the exceptions or if that is now the rule.
We'll do whatever it takes to make our vacation happen.

When are you traveling?

Can you do the online form?

Good luck!!
:sunny:

Haven't been there personally, but a friend was telling me that they got there at 4:00 a.m., then when the office opened Passport Office Officials were counting the line and told them they wouldn't be guaranteed to make it through. . . .:confused3
This is just one account of how things are going, hopefully someone else can offer some other, hopefully better news.

Good Luck!

Wow. That's awful.

I need to bring my mother to the passport office in Calgary in a couple of weeks. She will have to get in that day (preferably in the morning). Does anyone have any idea how things are at the Calgary downtown office? (hopefully Calgary is a little better since we have two passport offices)

I was told to be there by 5:45 am. If you are not in line by 7:30, you will not get in that day. He said that by 7:30, there is 600+ people in line. They count off 600 and tell the rest to go home, that the 600th guy will be the last one served that day, and even he is not guaranteed. He said bring a book, a chair and a lunch!!
Apparently people are selling places in line, and others are paying people to wait in line for them, and to call them on the cell phone when they are near the front. I heard spots are going for $100+!!
Crazy!
I think I will take my chances and mail them in, though they are getting over 1000 a day in the mail too, so the odds aren't that much better!

Good Luck, let us know about your experience!
