Whoo, 43 days until we fly out from here to Orlando!

DBF finally went yesterday to the passport office here in downtown Edmonton to drop off his application (it took forever to get ahold of his guaranteur!). He said that the passport person who helped him said that they've gotten their wait times back down to 'normal'. He was told to expect his passport no later than August 7. And that is good, as that's only 3 weeks before we leave...yikes, I hate cutting things close like that...I always worry, 'what if there's a problem?'! :scared:

Now, if only I can get him excited about going as I and the friend going with us are! He says he can't show he's excited because he 'works with guys that wouldn't understand' (he's in construction). Oy.

I can confirm that the wait times seem to be back near the normal range in Edmonton. My brother just had to go the office, and he made it through the lines in about 90 minutes starting at about 7:45 am on a Monday.

The passport office does have different options to expediate service. I think the faster they do it, the more they charge. I know that they will do a passport in 48 hours (not sure about 24 hours) with two catches: 1) you must go into the office to apply and 2) you must show proof of need (i.e. a plane ticket that is for only a few days away).

One curious note: My brother had two sets of photos rejected from places that do passport photos because of too much shading. I thought that this was weird.

Best Wishes with the trip!!!!
