Any other dis-photographers going to be there..I have decided to extend my stay

I think I am going to be in Kissimmee for a couple nights around then, but don't know if I will be making it over to the parks. We will be in town for our CM friend's anniversary party. If he is feeling too rough , he will not feel like driving over to get us in I will follow the thread to see what is going on.

My wife, sister, and future brother-in-law are going to be at the parks during that time. We are all driving down and spending the week there. It's my future brother-in-law's first time there and their early wedding present.

I'm bringing my new Canon 40d that I got for Christmas and I can't wait to try it out. The only problem is that I can't decide what lenses to rent!

I haven't asked for help on my renting dilema yet. It's partly I haven't decided what kind of things I want to take pictures of, whether extreme wide angle, macro, or telephoto. Maybe I might want to try out a Tilt-Shift lens.

I'm probably leaving on Friday and then staying overnight and then finishing up on Saturday. I can try to race you, but you'll probably beat me there.

IMO Disney really caters to the wide angle shots. That is not to say that there are not opportunities for telephoto, but if you are going to rent one lens, I would go with a high quality ultra wide.

Very true. I guess maybe I'll rent myself the Canon 10-22 lens. I used it before on an Alaskan cruise and it was pretty fun to play with. It can supplement my Tamron 17-50, Canon 50/1.8 and 70-300 IS. Maybe I can get some interesting castle photos and other architecture.

I did have fun with the Macro lens I rented the last time we were there during the Flower show in EPCOT which made for some interesting photography. The butterflies were fun to shoot with the macro lens, though it was difficult to get close enough for real macro pictures.

Lori and I will be there Feb 21-25, sans kids. We will be staying at SSR, and I will be golfing on Monday with another Dis'er. And this will be my first trip to WDW since upgrading to a DSLR last year.

it's been years since I've taken any real vacation, I have plenty of unused vacation time at work,

I have a free place to stay so that isn't a factor.

I originally figured 2 days to drive down, 7 days there and 2 days to drive home..then while pricing tickets I realized that it wasn't much more for an AP, once I factored in the cost of parking.. so the plan grew..LOL

I figured 2 days down, 14 days to play, and 2 days to drive home, plus with the AP, I have good incentive to go back within a year


now I'm trying to figure out my best photo storage options.

for 100 dollars I can get a 500 gig hard drive and upgrade my laptop, or I can get a 1 TB hard drive and take my dock along

I'll be around the parks on the 20th and 21st, I won't be much good to meet up with or to converse with, as I just got my first DSLR (Canon XSi) shortly after Christmas and my 50/1.4 is in the back of a UPS truck on it's way.

So if you see a young guy in a black Milwaukee Brewers hat doing something completely stupid, feel free to stop me from looking like an idiot...

I'm going to try to have a custom baseball hat made with one of my logos, so if you see an old guy wearing a black or white hat with one of those logos, and looking like a geek with his photo vest and multiple cameras, please don't tell anyone.... ...seriously if you spot me, please feel free to introduce yourself and we can swap photo stories..and maybe you can give me some pointers..
