It is now all very hazy so there will definitely be less detail. As this was the last day we had to try to get another Crushs Coaster in which meant, unless we could get in quick before the ride opened, we were potentially facing another 85 minute wait. So plan was to have breakfast, check out and get over to the Studios for about 9.15 so we could queue at the gates (I know I get it same queue just different location!!!).
Breakfast was delish as usual with the normal spattering of well-loved characters and then it was time to collect all our bits and pieces and check-out. As we had managed to avoid the temptation of the mini bar we checked out without extra charges and we lodged our bags with the front desk to reclaim them at 1415 which was the time we had booked the Ezyshuttle.
In brilliant sunshine we wandered across to the Studios, Lucy donning her new Lanyard and pins. There were a couple of hundred people already waiting spread out over the various gates and there was a feeling that many were prepared to run as the gates opened. I think they opened the gates about 0940 and as suspected there were people bolting across the tarmac as if their lives depended on it. We managed a more respectable quick-step/trot technique at which point the weight of Lucys pins became a health hazard so they were quickly removed and stored safely.
It was hard to tell how long the queue was because, as you will discover, there is a sneaky illusion employed by Disney where once within the environs of the ride the queue snakes innumerable times swallowing up hundreds of people. However once the ride gates opened we were off, snaking round the ropes like well trained athletes. The ride not quite so successful this time. Sophie still enjoyed the speed but got a little too close to the Shark and didnt like it. This is a very cool ride and highly recommended.
We managed almost a straight walk-on to the Slinky ride. This is quite a short ride but the bonus was we got on the front and we all enjoyed it. The Paratroopers queue was already through the roof so we agreed (minus Sophie) to give it a miss. We wanted to try the Animagique show a try and timed it quite well. This is a proper auditorium so the seats are very comfy. The show was very good and even Sophie who was fresh off her Paratrooper disappointment seemed to like it.
Last rides were chosen and Lisa Lucy and I decided on Big Thunder Mountain. Little did we know that there was to be a serious accident there a few days later. However, there is always an element of risk on thrill rides thats what makes them thrilling!
Decided to grab a hot dog at Caseys diner and sit in the sun. The food was quite tasty but not as good as some of the reviews would have it. I think I was maybe craving a salad. The kids were getting tired at this point I think
but were soon rejuvenated by the sound of Disney Music a parade!! Well just a little one
I split from the team to do a little shopping and we arranged to meet back at the hotel. I must admit I was weary by this stage and was happy, having bought a couple of trinkets to return to the vanilla comforts of the Disneyland Hotel. All thoughts of a quiet period of contemplation were disturbed, in a good way, by a gathering of characters in the reception area. Chip and Dale, Mickey, Pluto, March Hare to mention but a few. One last photo opportunity
and then Ezyshuttle arrived right on cue. It was a very, very quiet ride back to CDG airport with everyone having a snooze at some point. Flight was on time and apart from an abandoned landing and no-one to push the ladder to the plane on arrival it all went smoothly.
Without doubt it was a memorable holiday and the beautiful weather was a plus. As mentioned before dont be put off by the queues otherwise you will just wander around the park in bewilderment. We could certainly have made better use of the Fast Pass system but hopefully if/when we return we will be better prepared.
Bye Mickey and Friends - Thanks for having us
