Hi. Is it typically easier to take the bus or boat to MK with an ECV? I’ve read only some boats are able to take it so while we prefer the boat this is our first trip with one member having an ECV and don’t want to end up waiting a really long time for an accessible boat. Does anyone have experience with this?

There will be a boat that can accommodate and ECV, it just depends on how long you have to wait for one. I've noticed that they have been sending more large boats than they have in the past. The boats run approximately 15 minutes apart.

I also think if you are going to the MK at either park opening or closing times, they run the larger boats to take more guests. It's mid day when I tend to see the smaller boats that will not accommodate an ECV. If you do go to the dock and the boat is one of the smaller ones, they will radio another boat that can accommodate an ECV to stop (I've seen them divert the FW boat to stop at the WL to pick up a guest in an ECV). They will get you on a boat, however it might take a bit longer.

Our experience at WL with the boats and an ECV is that they tend to send a small boat and then a larger boat in rotation. So every other boat could take an ECV. We never found the wait to be bad. And the boat crew will help with getting the ECV on or off. You may be first on or last on. All depends on the water level and number of guests on the boat. We have had times where they ask all others to board first and stand on the opposite side of the boat to bring it up more level to get on the boat.

I use an ECV and stay at BRV/WL every December. WL/MK boat transportation (red flag) alternates between the launches (no ECVs) and cruisers (ECV enabled)…usually 15-20 minutes apart with the ride taking @10 minutes. You can also take the bus however it is shared WL and Fort Wilderness. Bus is usually a bit quicker but the boat has a nicer view…so it mostly comes down to 6 of 1, half dozen of the other…
