ECV vs WC at MK with crowds

We will be attending the dessert party this Saturday, the Saturday after Thanksgiving. My husband has been very ill this year and will need an ECV to move around the parks on this trip. I am extremely worried about using the ECV on Saturday because I suspect MK will be packed making it more difficult to maneuver the ECV around. Would it be better to rent a WC (I will push btw I am a nurse so I consider myself and expert pusher, lol) in the park to get around vs trying to deal with the ECV?

I used an ECV during the week of Nov 12-19 and attended two dessert parties during that time. I was very glad to have the EVC assist even when the crowd surrounded me. I sometimes had to be slow and patient, but the parks are large and walks to bus or other transportation is often very far. I too have had a tough year medically speaking and could not have handled all the walking. My wife and I are a similar size and it would have been a challenge for her to push me while the EVC allowed her to walk comfortably beside me. I would recommend an ECV.

An ECV gives him a level of freedom that you as a pusher does not.

If you are staying on site, especially, at the Resort, for example, he could drive down to refill his mug with coffee on his own. If you want to sit in the Parks and take a little break, he could go and watch a show, or browse in a shop, or even go get you a cup of water at a QS because he will have the ability to be self-mobile.

I vote for ECV for those reasons. You know him better than anyone, however. If you feel like he will be overwhelmed, then certainly, a wheelchair is the way to go.

I was thinking that you were intending to do both. Rent an ECV for the length of the trip and supplement with a WC for Saturday. That is what I would do. I find the ECV to be difficult in huge crowds. Folks walk into and in front of you constantly. It is intense to drive in that circumstance and this will be my 4th year doing it

I think that using a mobility scooter will give both you and your husband more freedom to enjoy WDW.

I read it as the same. Using WC just for that night. I think (not an expert at all) moving with a WC will be so much easier with super tight crowds.

But we'll be there too with my 6 grandkids, and the rest of the crew. Sorry to add to the crowd. DS said are we going to the parks that day (we get to disney about 4 pm), I said yes, do you want all the kids running around in the room??? Walking back and forth from BLT will burn off some of that energy.

Yes, my plan was to rent the ecv for our entire stay but possibly just push him in a wheelchair for Saturday night. We would arrive at the park around 7-7:30pm, stay for the dessert party and maybe ride a couple rides before the park closed. I was more worried about the tight crowds and maneuvering the ecv. We are staying off property but we do have a handicap parking pass. I just didn't want to deal with taking the ecv into the park only to turn around and take it back to the car because I am pretty sure my husband would get super frustrated driving it through the thick crowds.

In that case, I would have him bring the ECV up to the main entrance, rent the wheelchair from the Parks, *park* the ECV there at Rentals, and go enjoy yourselves.

If, by some miracle, the crowd levels are manageable, then you can always go back to the Rentals counter, turn in the chair and retrieve the ECV. Either way, you have the ECV for the trip back to the car at the end of the evening.
