(Long time lurker, first time poster
) (a little about me) We are AP/FL resident pass holders and have enjoyed the parks for the past few years. Last year I required the use of a rollator in the parks because of a sudden and quickly debilitating knee injury. The CM's at the parks were wonderful assisting me at the rides, etc. This year I had knee surgery. It went badly. Long story short, I am now in a brace permanently and require the use of a mobility scooter to get around. We decided that since we are AP holders, use the parks often, and I am "Pooh sized" (will not allow anyone to over exert themselves pushing me in a wheelchair), I purchased a new scooter. It was life changing to say the least. I am very self conscious and often feel like I am in the way in my scooter, but Disney has been amazing in making me feel welcome. The scooter that I purchased (PRIDE Victory Sport) was great, but between my size and amount of ground we were covering, I was barely making it back to the car before the battery died. I upgraded my scooter to the PRIDE Pursuit XL, as it gives me more room to position my leg straight, etc. Of course AFTER purchasing it, I started to worry that it was longer then the standard scooter and began googling. I was unable to come up with the answer to my question, "Is there a size restriction on scooters at the parks", but only came up with issues regarding bus ramps and scooter size. I panicked, contacted Disney and at first was told that my scooter was too big (it is 27x56 as compared to the 24x48 standard size). Again, I panicked. I asked if someone from management would please call me, as I was not intending to use the scooter on any transportation except the ferry boat to MK. They took my number and within an hour on a Sunday night I received a call. My scooter was ok to use. CRISIS averted! I wanted to share this info for anyone else that was concerned about scooter size. I am sure I will be parking the scooter outside and crutching it to some attractions (I know my regular sized one was a tight fit at some places). I am just so excited to be able to be a part of the Disney adventure! I hope this info helps anyone else with the question regarding scooter size overall.
