Is it 24 hours or within the day? If I need to rent from 9:00 Monday morning until 9:00 (or so)Tuesday morning, will that count as 2 days or just one? Will renting from the time we get there, 5:00 Sunday eve until 9:00 Tuesday morning count as 2 days since it's less than 48 hours, or 3 days-Sunday, Monday, Tuesday? I'm just trying to figure this all out as a first time ECV renter.

Are you talking about renting from the parks or a private rental? At the parks it's an operating day. You'd have to contact the private rental to get the answer there. But generally the weekly rate breaks even around 3 days, so you may just end up with a weekly rental at some places.

I think it is park opening in till park close in the same day so if you went to MK and rented one at 10 then when over to EPCOT at night and they were opens until 2 am you would not have to pay but you could not go to the MK the next morning at 9 am and not have to pay you would be charged for a new day

It might be based on where you rent.

When I rented from Walker, I said I needed the scooter from Monday morning through the time at the park on Friday. They dropped off on Monday, early morning. And picked up on Saturday morning. I was charged for 5 days.

Think it is a 24 hour period. Also I think the outside vendors require a minimum 2 day rental

Sorry, I meant reserving from an off-site vendor, specifically one of the featured vendors, so it would be dropped off. We're arriving Sunday, but I could do without the ECV until Monday. I didn't know that there might be a weekly rental option, sort of like a rental car(?) I thought all ECV companies rented per day. And I know that for rental car companies it is a 24 hour period.

To find out what each company does, and how much it will be, simply call them. At that time, tell them when you would like it to be delivered and when you would like to have them pick it up. They will give you the cost.

When I rented from Walker, they pretty much used a 24 hour window as a day and since you have to meet them for drop off & pick up, they are a bit more flexible or "forgiving" if your last day extends beyond a 24 hr window....as in they don't charge for another full day. They tend to round down in my experience.

As others have said I find they all charge different. Most of them do an online quote so I would type in your dates and see how does the 24 hour deal if it works out best for you. If you have to rent for 2 days maybe just rent one from the park may be cheaper.

I just booked mine with Walker. They are dropping off Sunday night and picking up Wednesday morning and they are charging me for 9 days.

with Walker do they include damage waivers? I've been thinking about trying them but Apple offers that at no cost and I'm looking at the best rates. Also if you don't mind how much was it for 9 days? I'm looking for that same time period and trying to get an idea on how much it will cost me. If you don't want to say in here if you could message me that would be great :)

I see way too many people complain about Apple (and not just here) but on other forums and internet venues. Lots of people (not everyone, but enough that you can tell they have more issues than any other rental company) have problems with the equipment they rent from Apple. They don't seem to do a good job of maintaining their equipment. Walker is a company that has been around and doing rentals for MANY years.
Look at the BBB ratings of a few different companies. Apple has a F and is not BBB approved. Walker has an A+ and is BBB approved. Buena Vista Scooters also has an A+ but is not BBB approved. That should tell you something about Apple. Sometimes cheapest isn't always the best way to go! It can put a damper on vacation when the equipment fails and you have problems trying to get it rectified.
Good Luck!!

Did what someone suggested here. I just called and asked. I decided to go with Walker for my rental-I figured that since it was my first time renting off-site, it was better to have someone meet me and go over things for a couple minutes (like how to charge it!) Anyways, Walker was scheduled to drop off Monday morning and pick up Friday evening, and they were going to charge me for 5 days. But when they found out we were getting there Sunday eve, they offered a "courtesy drop-off" Sunday night, so we can get going Monday morning (I was disappointed that their first morning drop-off is 8:00-9:00). Yet they're still chargine me for 5 days. And the insurance IS extra with Walker.

Yes, insurance is extra.

I am paying $235 for the 9 days. That includes $215 for the scooter and $20 for the insurance.

The best way I can explain it is that the rental company has to have a reasonable chance of renting the scooter to not count as a day. So, if drop off is Friday evening then there's no opportunity to rent the scooter that day anymore. If you get a scooter on Monday morning there is no opportunity to rent before you get it, either.

It was nice they are willing to give it to you Sunday evening at no charge.

Yes it was-now we can head out for breakfast Monday morning. Points for Walker!

Yes. First year I rented from Buena Vista because the scooter would be waiting for me. But Walker advertises the Onlr "rain resistant" scooters. Last year I went with Walker. They were a joy to work with. And the delivery driver was waiting for me as I pulled up to BCV on ME. Perfect

Yeah, I just did this exactly today for my trip in Nov. Getting it about 1 p.m. on a Saturday, and they'll pick up on a Sunday evening about 6:30 p.m. Same pricing, though I'm holding off on the insurance at this point. I hate paying insurance and have never needed it. But, we'll see, I can add it before I get it so I may still do that. They have always been great to work with, very helpful and accommodating!

Do you mean insurance? I just rented from Walker a couple weeks ago for a week and asked about insurance and they said it was included in the rental fee. Had great service from them.
