My mother-in-law just told my husband that she would like to take us all to Disney next year over kid's spring break (her treat!!!!). Whoo-hoo!!

Anyways, she has really bad knees and is diabetic. We plan to rent a scooter for her offsite. Any recommendations for a reliable company to rent from?

We are also leaning toward POR, where we will need two rooms. I haven't asked her yet, but I'm thinking a handicap accessible room would be more beneficial for her. Easier to get in the shower and stuff, although she has a regular tub shower at home. I'm just wondering since she will have the scooter is an accessible room easier to get it in and out of the room or is everything the same? I also plan to ask for connecting rooms (can you get a connected room to an accessible room??) or for our rooms to be as close together as possible. We don't want her far away from us.

Thanks for any input or suggestions.

There is a FAQ sticky at the top of the DisAbilities page that has lots of info on it about ECVs. I think that will answer your questions about the scooter.

Love POR, I hope you enjoy it. Since your Mom will have an ECV, request a ground floor room as well as a handicap accessible room, if you decide she needs one. All of the rooms can accommodate an ECV, so it's not necessary to ask for a HA room just for that. Also note that there is a difference between a connecting room and an adjoining room. An adjoining room is just the room next to yours. A connecting room will have an interior door between the two rooms. Not sure if this will be of importance to you.

Have a great vacation.
