Hi
My elderly parents will be visiting in early September, staying in a hotel off site. My mom will need to rent an ECV (due to double knee replacements), best rented in the park for them as there is no way my dad can move one of those in and out of a car daily! They are worried that there may be a problem renting one unless they get there really early in the day, every day. My questions are:
1. Is there a good supply of ECV's to rent?
2. What is the daily cost to rent one?
3. Does she need a doctor's note to not have to stand in line?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Normally yes, especially in early September when the parks are not very crowded. However, if you arrive in mid-day there is a possibility they may have run out.
2. What is the daily cost to rent one?
Currently it is $35 plus a $5 refundable key deposit.
3. Does she need a doctor's note to not have to stand in line?

No. If she is using an ECV in AK and MGM all the lines are "mainstreamed" where she will be able to remain in the ECV until boarding the ride. Most lines in Epcot and only some of the lines in MK are mainstreamed. If the line is not mainstreamed an alternate entrance will be used. Only if she has an additional "invisible" disability (other than the mobility or stamina problem) will she need a Guest Assistance Card, and even then a Doctor's note cannot even be asked for.

If she is renting an ECV, she won't have to worry about standing in lines because she can bring the ECV into line with her (or a wheelchair for the few lines that are not ECV accessible).
If she has additional needs that just having the ECV won't cover, check the disABILITIES FAQs thread for information about GACs.
