ECV question

Just came back from a week at all parks. I have a bad back (docs thought it was MS but we now think it's due to a herniated disc and several car wrecks I've been in)....was sore from walking the first two days. Then on the third day I rode Safari at AK and it tore my back up - had trouble walking it hurt so bad. I wound up renting the ECV for 3 days at $40 each day. Too bad that they don't offer an extended rental for cheaper price like the manual wheelchairs and strollers. We stayed at SOG and I did see a lot of people getting onto their buses in ECV. At our SOG hotel, I noticed that the elevator had the service door on the backside and sometimes it opened and I saw a row of ECVs lined up. Next trip we will stay in a value resort - maybe Pop Century. I would like to know if it is possible to rent the ECV at the Disney resort and then ride it on the buses to the parks - at a cheaper day rate than the $40 per day at the parks?

I'm certainly not an expert, but you can rent ECVs off site cheaper than you can at WDW. Look at the FAQ sticky at the top of this board. I'm sure you'll also get some response from others. I wasn't aware that SoG had ECVs at the resort. Live & learn.

The ECVs rented at the parks stay at the park it was rented at.

It's likely that they don't.
You will sometimes see ECVs that are rented from an off-site company and waiting at the resort for pick-up. Sometimes people will use Bell Services to store the ECV that they rented from one of off site companies.

The only resort that ECVs can be rented from that I am aware of is Boardwalk - Buena Vista Scooters (more information in the disABILITIES FAQs thread).

What I saw in the elevator when the service door opened was a row of about 6 same color maroon ECV lined up. I noticed this because one was also in a hallway on the way to my room with a charge going. I don't know if they were owned by the hotel but it seems odd that they'd all be identical if they didn't belong to the hotel.

When I saw them, I thought that maybe other resorts had ECVs of their own for rent/use. Maybe SOG (being military) offers this (free of for a fee) to their guests and other Disney resorts don't have them

that's possible.
It's also possible they were all rented from the same place. If you ask the resort where to rent from, people would all be told the same place.
