I've read the FAQ and didn't see the answer to this, but if I missed it...so sorry. I'm not really sure when we'll be able to make our next trip to Disney, but whenever we do go it will be our first where we need ECV's.

I know that it is recommended to ride Disney transportation to the Magic Kingdom if you have an outside ECV because you have to go to the TTC first. However, my dad really hates public transportation. Would it be possible for him to drop me and my mom off at the TTC with our ECVs? Then, have him go park the truck and meet back up with us at the TTC?

Both my mom and I have a disabled parking placard, but it's my understanding that the disabled parking at the Magic Kingdom is pretty far from the TTC and I'm afraid our ECV's would run out of juice.

Thanks!

You cannot walk to MK from the TTC. Period.

Going from the Poly/GF side there is the small matter of a canal with no bridge. And on the Contemporary side there is the underpass below the Say Lake/Seven Seas Lagoon connector which does not have any pedestrian access.

He will have to take "public" transportation, either the Ferry Boat or the Monorail.

I understand that you can not walk to the Magic Kingdom and that we will have to ride the monorail or ferry to get there. However, I am trying to minimize our time on "public" transit. He will be more comfortable that way and it is a vacation for us all.
So my original question stands, can he drop us off at the TTC and then park the truck? Will the parking CMs allow this?
Thanks!

Yes. Just tell the cast member at the booth that you are dropping off and they'll tell you where to go. After he drops you off he can circle back around and go to the parking lot.

Brandi, I don't have an ECV yet, but we do park at MK quite a bit. It's not that far of a walk to TTC from the HC parking there, granted it is the farthest you park from any park entrance, in MHO anyways. It does depend on where you're at in the HC lot, I see people dropping people and picking them up at the closest spot to the TTC from the lot all the time, and it's not an issue. Then your driver can go park. It is easier for me and my family to drive rather than take the bus, that sometimes can be a pain to strap you in, so I agree with your father there! I've gone as far as fold my manual chair, and get in line with everyone else to save the struggle of strapping me in. As long as you start the day with a full charge in the ECV, you shouldn't have too many issues. Have a great time, and enjoy!!!

Thanks! If it was just me and my mom, we would probably stay on site and use the busses, but my dad just feels more comfortable having a car available (and I haven't completely sold him on staying on site). I'm not even sure when this trip will happen, so for now I'm just collecting information so that when we do go I will be able to make the trip as smooth as possible. I'm sure as we get closer I will have plenty more questions for y'all to help me with! Thanks again!

You should be fine being dropped off - my dad absolutely hates parking in HA parking spots (I have a legal tag and use a wheelchair full time), so he would drop off me, my mom, and my sister, and then park the car. While the walk is a bit of a schlep, it is not too bad with a scooter.

If your dad is uncomfortable with the crowds on public transport, I suggest taking the ferry. The monorail can be quite crowded, especially with ECVs.

Disabled parking is not far from the TTC if you have an ECV. The issue for handicap people at MK HC parking is that it involves an underpass you must walk thru, involving slopes. The slopes are challenging if you use a manual wheelchair. The length of the walk and the slopes are challenging if you are walking but have medical issues.

If your dad parked at MK HC parking, this would be fine and it would save him making an extra trip to park after dropping you off. I park in MK HC and I use an ECV. There is no issue of using up too much battery power.

Wow! That's really good info to know. It sounds like we have several options. I like that I'll be able to lay out the situation to both of my parents and we can decide what's best for us. While it's my job to collect the info, we can discuss it. I can't say thanks enough for all of the helpful responses!
