ECV on Jungle Cruise??

Sorry, I have to ask this question!

Can you take an ECV on the Jungle Cruise???

My extended family is certain that you can take an ECV on the Jungle Cruise. I have never heard of this. I am pretty certain you can get a wheelchair on there, but I don't see how the boats from the Jungle Cruise could hold the weight of an ECV. My uncle insists that he heard they have a special hydrolic system to lower it into the boat.

Can someone please help end this debate??

Yes, you can take the ECV on JC. You will have to wait a little while for the special boat. It's really cool how the load it. There is a ramp and you drive onto the boat, but since you would be sideways, the ramps turns around and faces frontward.

Yes, some ECVs can go on the boat.

I HAVE seen them refuse some of the larger ECVs, likely because of a suspected weight problem. My guess is that the lift can handle 600 lbs, which is pretty standard for a lift. An ECV meant to handle larger weights can easily weight 150-200 lbs (my power chair weighs 325 lbs), and CMs may be concerned about some larger people.

Also, it has to fit length-wise, and backpacks and baskets may make it too long.

Its been years since my family has been on the JC, but I just assumed it was like all the other boat rides (like POTC and Small World) that you have to transfer into.

Yes, you have to transfer for IASW, but they have park wheelchairs there for people who cannot climb down into the boat. You transfer from the ECV to a wheelchair, then get wheeled onto the boat.

The lift will be turned to face the side of the boat and the side lowers to become a ramp for wheelchair or ECV to be loaded. After the wheelchair is on, the side goes back up and the lift is turned to face the front of the boat before lowering into the boat.

And, for what it is worth, the Small World wheelchair boat. This is before the recent renovation, but the boats are essentially the same; it was the loading area that was changed (moved).
