ECV on Buses

I have used an ECV at WDW before But never on buses. Had no problem getting on Boats and Monorail. I am nervous about getting on and off a bus. Will the bus driver help put it on and off. Thanks for any responses

They really prefer that the person operating it knows what they are doing because its efficient and they don't have to try to get it the right way while not even being on it.
But I've definitely seen when someone is not getting it onto the ramp correctly they do jump in to help because they don't want it to tip.

I've had most drivers ask me if I need help. Some will actually take control of the ecv if you wish, some will just guide you. The key is to keep it in turtle mode, and go slow and careful.

I've always had drivers offer to help. None have ever offered to help me get onto the bus. However they almost always offer to back me up into my parking space. And depending on how many people are waiting to get on in the front door, and how anxious they look, sometimes I just let the bus driver do it because they're so much faster. I have seen a few people who've had other family members handle the whole thing-as soon as the bus pulls up and lowers the rear ramp, they get off the ECV and another family member (such as an adult son) takes over driving it.

This is what I do for my mom. I’m her “designated” parking person for transportation. Although, our last trip I ended up needing my own ECV and she was comfortable driving up the tampon bit would ask for help getting into her “spot”. The bus driver was always willing to take the controls and park her. This was even more true on the new buses, especially if people were already on the bus.

We had a driver try and do it for my DIL, but problem is, she is a very skilled ECV driver and didn’t want the help. She’s only 25 and has used one for several years so she knows what she is doing. He just kept insisting he was “quicker” and she finally got irritated at him and just did it herself in seconds.
I did notice in my recent trip they have some new buses with really nice places for the ECV to park (at the front of the bus) and it just has “arms” that hold them tight in place.

If the driver dose not Ofer to help you I would just ask they more then likely will just do it for you

I'm a very long time ECV user - and I can safely say that most of the time the driver will ask if you'd like assistance - sometimes they will highly suggest you let them take charge and I've never had any issues. If they don't ask, all you need to do is ask them -- can you help me board the bus? The drivers have been trained (very well) in handling ECVs and it is part of their job to assist us -

This also includes others on ECVs, at least from my experience. The first time I used an ECV, I was doing pretty well, that is until I had to use the rest room. Since I was solo, I had no one to leave my ECV with so I didn't know what to do. I finally just asked someone else on an ECV, and they were so nice explaining things. You rarely are without help.

My DH used a ECV for several trips. Never really got good at parking on bus. Getting up the ramp was no issue but most times it took him a few times to get it parked. After the second try, the driver either gave vocal help or took over controls.

But for a trip or two, he was so against getting a evc because of the fear of parking. He still feels awkward, but enjoys the trip better.
