ECV Multiple Bus Stops

My DH has mobility issues and will be on a scooter. We are staying at Old Key West for the first time in a studio. The resort has a lot of bus stops.

1. Has anyone stayed at this resort that can tell me which area to request to allow him to be at the first bus stop because of the scooter?
2. Can anyone that has used a scooter at a resort with multiple bus stops tell me how that works if you aren't the first stop and the bus already has a lot of passengers? Do the drivers make the person on the scooter wait for a different bus?

My concern is sitting at the bus stop waiting and not being able to board due to the buses being full

Each bus can accommodate 2 scooters. I stayed at BCV last October. It is the second stop after the Yacht Club. Sometimes there were no other scooters and I just drove on, Sometimes there was 1 other scooter. I found that a bit harder to park in that case, but I got on and once at BC and once at DS the bus or line had 2 in front of me. In those 2 cases I had to wait for the next bus to arrive.
I can not speak to OKW.
Good Luck

This is exactly my concern also. We're staying at OKW in January, and it's the first time since I started using a scooter. The CM said my room would either be first floor or elevator building. My concern is that the elevator buildings are closest to the main Hospitality House, which is the last stop. First bus stop is South Point, but that's my least favorite part of the resort. Oh, well-we'll see come Marathon weekend.

I don't think just being at the "first" stop would really mean the buses won't be full except first thing in the morning. If its late enough that you will have some people going back to the resort and others getting on the bus could be pretty full at any stop. At the first top the bus makes at OKW the bus would just be full of people waiting to get off at other stops.

if you want the first buss stop for OKW I would ask for building 23-29 I was with some one in a wheel chair full time last year and we were in building 28 easy walk to the buss stop ( the first one when the busses come in) and if we ever missed the buss the could walk to the check in place and get it going out we never had a problem not getting on a bus even when we were at the check in ( last bus stop)

Please don't worry - if you are at the bus stop, and the bus is full (meaning there is no additional room for your ECV or wheelchair) then the driver can call for another bus. During busy times, you will often find CM's with clipboards and walkies that are helping manage the buses as well.

At WDW you typically never have to wait more than 20 minutes for a bus, regardless of where you are on property - it's an amazingly well-run transportation system.

And remember - if you are at OKW, you can always take the boat down to Disney Springs! I love to ride the boats at WDW, and that ride is particularly pretty! (and it's a great place to start from for visiting other Resorts, too!)

I'm not sure that's accurate. It's been a few years, but I think the park buses stop first at Peninsular Road, then Turtle Pond, South Point, Miller's Road, and finally at Hospitality House. The internal bus follows the same route, but starts and ends at Hospitality House.

Yes, you're right- I forgot! Thanks for correcting me. And like a Previous Poster mentioned, we too stayed in building 28 once and I LOVED the convenience of the bus stop near there. Now I wish we'd added that to our requests.

If you are planning on heading to the parks in the morning, ask for a unit near Peninsula Road since it is the first stop. Do not, under any circumstances, go to the Hospitality House bus stop even if you are staying in this section! If there is space for an ECV at that point, the bus will be packed. Who wants to deal with that? You can annoy a bus load of people or they will call for another bus and you can wait... and wait. Not how you want to begin the day. Scoot on over to Peninsula Road and save yourself the aggravation.

Does anyone know what area to request if we would like building 62? I think that looks very convenient for DH since it has an elevator?

The room requests for OKW are confusing having to pick an area.
