We are thinking about renting an ECV from off property for our trip next week but I am wondering if it will fit in a room at the Assp? There will be 3 adults and 1 child in the room. Are there any advantages renting an ECV from Disney?

Thanks,
Kelly

It will be a tight squeeze. Note that the rooms in all the "value" resorts are 260 sq ft with two double beds. If you can possibly upgrade to a moderate you will have 314 sq ft (except Caribbean which are 340 sf). The extra space helps.

It is generally to your advantage to rent from off-site. Main reason is the ECV will always be available. If you change parks in midday there is a strong chance you will not be able to get an ECV, as they will only rent out those that have a full charge ojn them. Also, you will be able to use it at Downtown Disney and, if necessary, the water parks, where normally only wheelchairs can be rented.

Also the ECVs from off-site are better in that they have three wheels instead of four and are much easier to maneuver, and they have much better control of speed (maximum 7mph compared with Disney's about 3).

Thanks for the info. I have been trying to upgrade and there is no availibility for the Fla Resident or Military rates. I would prefer for my MIL to rent one offsite but just not sure we will all fit into the room.

The first time I rented an ECV from off property (Walker), we were staying at All Star Music. Granted we only had two adults, but we were able to manage. The ECV has to be recharged each night, so it needs to be near an electrical outlet. If you have a good rate at ASMovies, then make the best of the room situation & have fun!

I agree with everything Cheshire Figment said about ECVs! Also, plan to bring a white towel from your room to cover the ECV when your MIL is not in it.

Been there, done that. The only difference was we were 3 adults, an ecv. and a wheelchair. Tight fit but it worked. We took my Dad (70) to all star music and he loved it. :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc
