Do any airlines have economy seats in groups of 2?

We usually fly in premium where the seats are all in pairs, though am considering economy due to the cost.

Some planes I have been on, have a set of two at the back of the plane on either side. I know I have seen them but couldn't say for sure what flight and with who it was with.

We just always ask for two seats (pre kids) in the middle, we have never been bothered by anyone climbing over us etc, they just go the other way.

Yes, we've sat in the pairs of seats at the back of a VA plane, it's where the plane starts to narrow and they can't get a full row into the space - I think they now make an extra charge for sitting in them.

That's the reason we don't fly with BA or Virgin. You'll find that most American airlines are 2-4-2, which allows us to have two seats by the window. Much more comfortable. OK, it involves a change, but it's usually a fair bit cheaper too! :thumbsup2

Continental are normally the 3 + 3 format and a few times we haven't had anyone else on the row with us. I guess if the price was right buying all 3 seats may be cheaper than buying 2 premium seats, could be an option.

Virgin don't charge for all of the 2 seats at the back, we have booked them the last few years and have not been charged :goodvibes

Yep - just to echo pp - we have travelled in the 2 at the back of the 747 a couple of times and haven't paid extra.

We travel to Miami with American in two weeks and fly on a Boeing 777. The configuration is 2-5-2.

My Brother once organized a business trip to US for his company, last minute someone pulled out, the airline would not allow my Brother to use 2 seats even though he had paid for them, they were within their rights to re-sell the seat as a no-show.
It must be possible to buy 2 seats to use for 1 person but confirm with airline how to do it.

We just flew Delta which was 2-4-2 and was a lovely plane.

:thumbsup2 we just reserved these for our return journey :)

Martinair has rows of 2 in economy and comfort class if your looking at indirect to MCO with KLM.

American Airlines have always had a 2-5-2 or 2-4-2 seating when I've flown with them transatlantic :thumbsup2
