EBTA 2014...Across the Atlantic we go!!!

Yes they did have a talent show, which I think dancing with officers was part of some of he acts, they practice in Rock n Bar D in the afternoons if my memory serves me right. You will love TAs cruising as the sea days are great in my opinion at least you can get the best of both worlds. The time zone changes causes havoc if you don't get enough sleep. We were going to do the Greece cruise however the pricing was silly on day one, It would have been nice as we met in Greece some 22 years ago.

I have already booked flights for this cruise and accommodation at the Wyndham Bonnett Creek Resort nr Disney, I travel out on the 9th and my wife arrives a week later on the 16th. I want to get some days in at the parks and get some sun prior to boarding.

Rgds,

Stevie (Stephen is my Sunday name and only ever used by my mother or when I am in trouble or both)

Thanks, Stevie!

We are still working on our pre- and post- cruise plans.

We typically arrive the day before when we sail out of Port Canaveral, so we are planning on flying to Orlando on the 18th and staying overnight at our go-to hotel at the Port (the Radisson - I know a lot of folks give it a bad rap, but we like it and are familiar with it). Our DD graduates from college the day before, so we are really cutting it close as it is!

Not yet sure what we will do at Barcelona - we did Disney transfers and hotels this year, but since we are booking on DVC points, we were told this option was not available to us. But, since we are now a bit more familiar with Barcelona, we will probably just book a hotel for one night then fly home. Not sure about that one yet, but we did like being able to "recover" for one day before the long flight back.

Yes, I've heard that losing sleep gradually over the cruise is tough, but this was really the only time we could do this cruise - the Westbound does not work for our schedule.

Looking forward to seeing you on the cruise!

Jeff--
That would explain it. The Future Cruise lady said that only a couple cruise itineraries had 20% deal. If we booked one of the others and changes to TA--we stay at 10%. If we book one of the 20% cruises and switch to another, we get that 10%. So it was very specific.

Now I need a photo to remember who you are. Have you posted any?

Jan

We never talked on the cruise, but I just noticed you and Tom because you were wearing matching polo shirts.
But if you remember seeing an Asian couple with a 7 years old girl, that's probably us.

Thanks again.

:wave2:Hi friends
Me and ,y family of 4 will be on this sailing, I have 2 questions.....How bad is the time change thing?? How many times do we have to set our clocks forward. I kinda don't care because I'm just super stoked about the cruise,, but just want to be ready for that.
Also....what is this "Dancing with the Crew" thing?? Sounds like much fun, I'm an old retired dancer and would love the chance to dance again.

How bad the time changes are is all up to the person itself.
If you keep track of the time at home and keep calculating back and forth then it sucks.
We have never had any problems with the timechange....

You go 5 days (sea days during the ta crossing) 1 hour forward.
And then 1 hour forward between Funchal and Malaga.

Dancing with the officers is a show where the officers dance with the guests or do other tricks.
It's one of the lst nights and it's in the theater as the night entertaiment.
You have to be picket to get into the show it's not on voluntairly (?) bases.
How you can get picked i don't know. But it never hurts to ask at check in straight away because that and there is the moment that people get picked....

There is a 7 hour time difference between Florida and Barcelona but, speaking from experience, a gradual 1-hour-at-a-time change will be SO much better than flying over & hitting that change all at once. And I'm with ya - super stoked about this cruise!!! :cool1:

It's a 6 hour difference not 7....

Oh, man...
I was on the June 27 med cruise, the first one to Venice and they don't offer the 20%. Just the regular 10%

Jeff

We were on the 6/27 Med cruise also. We worked our tails off going to all the sights. :laundy: (it was so worth it, even tho we lost all our luggage). I am definitely ready for more sea days!! :cool1: I am retiring next spring. We have booked this cruise at the 10% discount and the EBPC at the 20% discount. Woohoo!!! I am ready to enjoy time at sea. Between you, Jan and us the Med is well represented!:teacher:

:yay: hope we see more of each other this time!! We tried to choose excursions that would show us a lot and not wear us out but 4 port days in a row does end up being a lot of walking! Tom is retiring summer of 2015 and said "no more port-intensive cruises" until he can go home and rest up, so, TA here we come!!

I am still waiting patiently for flights home from Barcelona to Wales. I have to wait until October before they get released. I know that gives me plenty of time but I am not good at waiting! lol

We will be staying at the Best Western for 6 nights on Cocoa beach before the cruise and I am looking at booking surfing lessons for my boys for 2 of the days. The lessons only last 2 hours so that won't take up too much time.

I am also looking at taking them to the space centre.

My plan so far is to rent a car from the airport and keep it for about 3 days to visit the space centre, before chilling around the beach for the next couple of days. I am still unsure as to whether to keep the car for the length of my stay and drop it of on the morning of the cruise and use the shuttle from the rental place. I just need to decide on what to do before I book a rental.

Any thoughts on my plan? Would I be crazy to stay a few days without a car? I read that there is a shuttle to the port from the Pier, is this correct?

Hi Rhian .... we are also from Wales .... whereabouts are you from ?
We are hoping to stay in Cocoa Beach for at least one night before the cruise. Haven't booked a thing yet other than the cruise. Do you think you would make good use of the car while in Cocoa Beach ??? If not you could just hire one for a couple of days, get from airport to hotel and do any shopping you might need while you still have it, and then just get a taxi to the port on cruise day ?

If like me you don't count the month we are in and the month in which we travel .... we now only have 7 months to go before this cruise .... it is actually sounding a lot closer when you look at it like that :woohoo::woohoo:

Hi, I live near Cardiff (I work in Cardiff). Whereabouts are you?
That is what I am thinking, I wouldn't need the car for the entire time. Only to get to see one or two things and get some supplies. I was worried about not being able to walk to places, but I thought I could even walk the beach to get from place to place if there aren't any good pavements.
Needs more researching.

North Wales ... Prestatyn. Have you been to Cocoa before ?

No, I haven't been to Cocoa beach before nor have I been to Prestatyn.

We spent a day at Cocoa Beach with our friends from Florida on a 4th July weekend and had a great time at the Pier. We also had a gorgeous pizza at a place called A New York Pizza House ..... can highly recommend it. :thumbsup2

I am really looking forward to staying there the evening before the cruise and eating at one of the dockside restaurants there .... hopefully watching some cruise ships sail out. We also plan to get up realy early and watch the Magic sail in. :cloud9::cloud9:

We have never been to Cardiff either ... shame on us for never visiting our own capital city :guilty::guilty:
