EBTA 2014...Across the Atlantic we go!!!

Whatever you do, don't do this: News video.

That's ridiculous on so many levels. My husband and I immediately noticed the story doesn't jive though. You have to pay in full months before the ship sails - the news story says he & his family drove down to take the cruise & couldn't pay for it?? Rest assured, if I can't pay for the cruise, I'll rob the bank much earlier :rotfl2: Actually, the cruise is "paid" for (we're DVC members and used our points) - we just have to pay for the flight(s) and the dogsitter and tips onboard and the hotel in Barcelona afterwards...

:scratchin I wonder if that guy even knew that he would have to be paid in full before going on a DCL cruise. Some ships can be paid and boarded the day of the event so maybe he figured that since one can walk in to WDW and pay for the day, he could do it on the ship also. :rotfl:

Crazy, of course, but we know what a class act :thumbsup2 DCL is and some people think it is just have no clue.

Our daughter will be traveling with us - this trip is her college graduation present. She's 23 but not yet on the disboards. I'll let her know there are already people waiting to meet her :thumbsup2

Our niece, 28 will be sailing with us old folks. I'm sure she would like to hang out with people her own age sometimes. She is not on the disboard yet.

She can hang with us! My sister and her hubby will be 27 and I will be 31.

I am new at the board. We have booked on this cruise. Hoping that we will be able to make it..
This will be our 6th disney cruise but first TA.
It'll be me, my wife, and 7yo daughter.

Look forward to meeting everybody there.
Jeff

I had to cancel today. If it gets discounted phenomenally, I might get to go but I just can't swing this trip.

So sorry we had to cancel a cruise this year I know how it feels :sad1: keeping everything crossed for you!

Thanks
Just send the request to join.

We were on the first Venice cruise a few weeks ago in June and really surprised by the various gifts from DCL. Do they give out gifts too on the TA cruise?

In any case, we are now hooked on the longer cruise. I don't think we can do the 3 or 4 days cruise anymore.

Oh, I'm still catching up on the reading of this thread. Just got to page 10 so far, but saw a mention about some tastings. Is that on board or during one of the port of calls? I guess I'll find out once I read and catch up with the thread postings.

For those of you who sailed the EBTA 13 and booked this with the 20% off, was the WBPC 14, 20% also?

With the increase in airfare for this cruise, we can cruise the WBPC for the same price.

Thanks, Jennifer

Is the airfare for the WB different than for the EB??

The airfare for EBTA for us is $1200/ per person multi-city. Even with the increase in price for the WBPC cruise, the airfare is only $332/per person multi city. So in the end both cruises are comparable as long as the WBPC is 20% off.

I was wondering when we booked the EBTA 14 while we were on the EBTA 13, we received 20% off the EBTA 14. There were 2 other cruises with the 20%. I can't remember if the WBPC was 20% also. If so, we may change to the WBPC.

Thanks, Jen

Unfortunately we have canceled this trip.:sad1: I know you will all enjoy. Another time. :thumbsup2

If I remember right, the WBPC was 20% off as well. However, the price of that cruise was significantly higher than the EBTA, so we stuck with that one (particularly, since we were already on it then, and having a great time).

I noticed just yesterday, however, that the base price for the EBTA is now significantly higher than when we booked in May. Our room is over $1000 more now that it was in May, so I'm not sure what that might have done to the WBPC prices since May. I didn't look at those to compare (I was really just checking our cruise yesterday).

I swear I posted this before, but I don't see it anywhere & am thinking I dreamed it! But my husband said he'd be willing to organize & "host" the photo walk as long as it's what we think it is. It's basically wandering the ship, taking pictures of interesting things, right? He has a very artistic eye and loves taking photos with his fancy cameras ;) So just let me know if that's a reasonable understanding of the photo walk & what you need from him as far as organizing ahead of time. :thumbsup2

I guess it is selling well! I hadn't looked since May either and it is much higher then when booking onboard with the 20% off. We are still trying to decide if we will go on this cruise or not. I wish the port days were longer and it was 14 nights but it is the new Magic which is a big draw. It will probably come down to airfare costs home from BCN for us as right now it is about the same cost as the cruise!

Where did the 20% discount come from?
I think I only got 10% discount for booking it onboard.. but it was on a regular cruise, not a TA cruise.

Just wondering..

When we were on the 2013 EBTA, they were offering 20% discount on this cruise as well as one of the PC cruises. It was an amazing deal especially since the prices for this sailing have skyrocketed recently.

They were offering it this past May on our Panama Canal cruise too.
