I was planning an ornament too as one of my goodies

Guess I can cross ornament off of my possible FE idea list! Great minds think alike, right? I will have my neice and nephew this weekend, maybe they can help with some ideas. Now to get them to help without telling them they are going.....I wish my sister would just tell them so I can be excited with them!

Since this cruise is our Christmas gift to each other and I love Christmas, we are totally celebrating it on the cruise. Our door will be decorated for Christmas and I am tempted to bring our stockings to hang in our cabin. We will be wearing our Santa hats and I am sure my DH will be packing all of his Christmas ties along with his Disney ties.

You can never have too many ornaments - I wouldn't change your plans :yay:

I never thought to decorate for Christmas - great idea - wonder if I can find stockings with Mickey ears on them :confused3

If you want to do an ornament- go for it! As I have thought about it I figure they will all be a bit different and if not, as you say..great minds think alike:lmao: I have several ideas that I am thinking of including, and have actually started on the main goodies from our cabin for the kids and grown ups (but I am giving no more clues here- its all surprises from here on out :dance3:). I am still trying to figure out what to make/ or get to have my parents pass out:idea:

I am so excited to have them participate with us:cool1: I just got my first sewing machine and am thinking of attempting to create their FE. Note that when I say my first, I mean that I have never touched one before and do not hand sew, but I met someone on my last Disney cruise that inspired me to get a sewing/embroidery machine and give it a try :cheer2: We'll see how it turns out or if I end up buying their FE:rotfl2:

My First Cruise!

I'm so excited my first cruise will be going to the PC, pinch me this can't be real?!

I am going with 10 family members: Me, DH, DD (will be celebrating her 2nd birthday on board), SIL, BIL, darling nephews (6 & 8), my 2 parents, and MIL & FIL

I was also interested in the FE but wondered about how many people/rooms participate?

Welcome Roxy. That is quite a group. I wish my extended family were able to join us for vacation. My DS will be 5 and will love your nephews. We are also pretty close to you, up in Antioch.

Yes, please don't change your plans! I can't imagine that any two ornaments would be alike.

Thanks for the FE info,Tammy! It was helpful.

I figured we might as well decorate since we will be on the ship for the 2 weeks before Christmas and will be missing out on a lot of Christmas parties.

I printed out a large tree for our doors (I'm an engineer and have a plotter at work) and then will print out and make small magnatic ordaments so the kids can decorate the "Christmad tree" on our door.

I know they sell princess stockings and I have seen pooh, cars and toy story ones before so I'm sure you could find a Mickey ear stocking. I wish I had a Mickey ears Santa hat ot wear.

What a great idea about the magnetic tree! I just may have to steal that idea if you don't mind!

For the Hawaii cruise, I went to the party supply store and bought some cardstock Hawaiian items and added magnets to the back of them. This worked out really well. I;m sure they will have xmas items as time grows near. You can even add names to cardstock stockings and add them to the door. It seems so weird to be talking xmas already but I am sure we will start seeing xmas items in stores soon. :rotfl2: They start sooner and sooner every year!

What a BRILLIANT idea! I LOVE IT.

IF you're going to the 'Land before the cruise, I'm SURE you'll find Santa Ears. I tried to put my husband's in the yard sale box this morning, but he grabbed it and stuffed it back in the drawer. Otherwise, it would have been yours.:santa:

Please feel free to steal it! The more Christmas trees I see, the happier I am. If anyone would like me to print them one, I would be more than willing to. Just bring some strips of sticky magnets to add to the back and I could hand it over at the meeting or leave it at your door. I printed mine as ANSI C sized because I wanted room on the door for other signs and magnets but I can print larger. Just let me know.

Also all this talk of ornaments has me thinking. Would anyone be interested in doing an ornament exchange? Each person brings a wrapped ornament (we normally set a $5 limit) and everyone draws a number and then you trade or steal and everyone ends up with an ornament. It can be lots of fun and the larger the group the better! We could do it towards the last sea day close to Christmas. Just a thought

Count me in for the Ornament exchange!

I can't believe it.... but we booked the EBPC cruise last night.:woohoo:
One more thing off my bucket list.
That and the fact that I have been going through withdrawal after getting off The Fantasy only a couple of weeks ago.

It will be my husband Doug and myself Audrey and we will be celebrating our Wedding Anniversary on Dec. 10th. We are from Ontario, Canada and this will be our 9th Disney cruise.

I haven't had time yet to read through this thread but I will. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Is it December yet????

Ornament exchange sounds like a fun idea. My extended family does a gift exchange with the same rules. It can be a lot of fun with all the steals, and by then end of the cruise we will be comfortable enough with each other to make it very entertaining.

Me and DH would be interested in doing the ornament exchange. It sounds like the dirty santa we do here at home where you draw numbers and then choose by number . You are able to steal the item from another, but after the 2nd steal, that item is off limits to take by anyone else. It is lots of fun. My daughter goes to one party where they try to get the ugliest ornament and that person gets a prize. She says that it is lots of fun too. Just a thought. Whoever wants to organize the ornament exchange, count us in.

Welcome aboard! Looks like we are going to have quite a group.

What a kind offer! I may take you up on it. I'm still figuring out what I'll be putting on my door.

I printed mine as ANSI C sized because I wanted room on the door for other signs and magnets but I can print larger.
May I ask what the dimensions are for ANSI C?

Count me in! :yay: I love getting new ornaments. :) In fact, I was secretly wishing the FE would be an ornament exchange because it'd be cool to get several new ornaments from fellow cruisers. Did I mention that I love Christmas ornaments? :rotfl:

May I ask what the dimensions are for ANSI C?

As a guess - 18 x 24 inches.

Suggestion - On some of the doors the coating is a little thick, making the magnets (especially the thinner ones) not adhere too well. You may wish to bring a packet of "poster tack". It feels a bit like silly putty but a little ball under the corners of an item holds quite well and removes cleanly, without a trace.

May I ask what the dimensions are for ANSI C?

Sorry, I'm still in the office so I'm still in work speak. ANSI C is 17x22. The widest part of the tree 17" and it is 22" tall.

We normally "retire" it after 3 steals but I'm fine with changing up the rules a bit. We always let the person who has number 1 go last again but we can mention the rules before we start.

I guess I will organize it but I might need some help as I have never been active with any dis group before. We normally cruise with my friends who are completly disney crazy and they organizes everything for us and we just show up when and where they say to. They also did the last three FE exchanges for us. They bought and delivered our gifts for us and made our FE and everything. This will be our first time crusing without them as their "souvenir" from our last Fantasy cruise is due in early January!

So here are my thoughts. I say we hold it on the last sea day, day 14. Is there a way to reserve a spot/room at a certain time or do we just pick a time and place and hope an activity isn't taking place during that time? Should I keep a list?

Thanks for organizing the ornament exchange! :) I'd be happy to help if you need it! I've never been active with a DIS group either so we can be newbies together! :)

May I suggest we choose a day other than the last sea day for the exchange? Perhaps you are better organized than me, :) but I know I'll probably be busy getting everything packed on that day since we arrive in Miami bright and early the next morning. May I suggest that we hold the exchange on Day 6 or 7? We have four sea days in a row (Day 5-8), so perhaps an activity in the midst of them would be fun? Just a thought.....But if everyone else prefers the last sea day for the exchange, then I'll just make it work! :)

Thought some folks might like to see a few old photos of the Canal. We found these when we were closing Fort Clayton for the turn over of the Panama Canal in 1999.
