ebooks..question

Now that some of my friends and family of these ereaders ..

I would like to buy some ebooks for their ereaders.. anyone has good sites and of course where to get the best price ? looking for mystery , fiction , etc...any discounts anywhere ?

I just buy mine from Barnes & Noble. I know I can buy them from Amazon as well and I really need to start checking both but since I have a Nook it's very easy to buy from B&N. I buy the book from the Nook and have it in seconds. I search the discounted books and 99 cent books regularly, I've found some very good books that way.

If you are going to buy them books then I would buy them from whatever company their ereader is from (Amazon, B&N, Etc).

I know with Amazon and B&N you can gift an ebook and have it sent to the person's email address. Or gift cards to the specific company would work as well.

Piggybacking... wondering if files are convertible among companies. I have a Sony Reader but got Amazon and B&N giftcards with notes to "get a book" for Christmas. Are they all formatted the same?

The pandigital uses the B&N bookstore I believe (at least it did when my friend bought hers a year ago. The Sony's use the Sony bookstore.

Both use ePub, so if you find a website that sells none drm'd (digital rights managment) epubs they could put them on but I don't know how you would gift them the ebook.

Not with just the stock firmware but if you root it you can download the Kindle app.
