Ebay?

I found a bracelet and a pair of earrings from the same seller. They were "Buy Now" and he showed 12 bracelets and 4 pairs of the earrings in stock. They were not cheap ($100.00 for the bracelet and $119.00) for the earrings. Anyway I did a search to see if I could find a seller that had them any cheaper and found a couple that had them a few dollars higher, but none cheaper. Anyway, I waited a couple of days trying to decide if I wanted them that bad. I went back on and saw that he still had 12 bracelets and 4 of the earrings still in stock (so had not sold any in at least two days) and went ahead and bought them. Within less than an hour, he came back and said he no longer had any of either one of them and was refunding my money. I just went back on ebay and he has relisted both the earrings and bracelet for more money and still shows 12 bracelets and 4 pairs of earrings in stock. Is there anything I can do?

I would contact ebay, as they say "your bid is a contract" and it goes both ways. I don't know if it would do any good, but I would contact them about it.

I can't answer your question but that seems so odd - he has nothing to gain from not taking your money - and since its a buy it now there is really no risk to him.

I don't get what the sellers are thinking.

I have been looking at some lamps which are out of stock and the mfg is not due to make for several months. All the online lamp places are out of stock.

I then see the lamp on ebay for sale (new from a lamp dealer) with a stated shipment time of 2-4 weeks. So I contact the seller (before bidding) and tell him I am interest but I want to make sure they are in stock and available for immediate shipment.
Guess what, he responds that they are out of stock and not available for 2 months.

You can report him as a non selling seller, but that will not force him to sell it to you.

You can also neg the snot out of him. I would.

The only thing I could figure was that maybe he did what I did, and did a Search for the earrings and bracelet on ebay and realized he was selling them too cheap, so decided to raise his prices. The $99.99 bracelet he is now selling for $119.00 and the $119.00 earrings he is now selling for $130.00. They're still 'Buy Now'.

This has happened to me as well.

Leave him negative feedback (don't worry, he cannot leave negative feedback for you). Also report him to eBay as a previous poster already suggested.

That is just so wrong. If you have a copy of the original listing and correspondence and also his new listing, I would definately report it to ebay. And then I'd go put his name all over Twitter and tell people not to buy from him.

The first thing I'd do is call him out on it. Ask him to explain why he is sold out, but just relisted the same "sold out" items at a higher price. Then, I'd get on Ebay's live help and ask them what to do. They may be able to do more than what you can by putting in the non-performing seller.

I sent him a message and got one back saying that he had been out of stock, but apparently got more in the next day and decided to list them for a higher price. He told me he'd be glad to send them to me for the new price.

That is absolutely wrong. Report the seller and buy from someone else!

Neg him. And give him low stars. Say something like:

Said was out of stock then listed again at higher price

I would not trust him at this point, so don't buy from him no matter what price he gives you. I would report him to Ebay, report him to PayPal if you went through there, and leave him negative feedback. You might want to wait until you have your money back before you do any of this though.
