eBay & VHS video sales

Has anyone on this board gotten rid of their non-Disney VHS videos on eBay with any luck? If so, what is the best (least expensive) manner in which to do this? I just can't imagine paying all of those listing fees for individual items that probably won't sell for more than a dollar. (Actually, I don't even know what the going rate is right now, so it may be less than a dollar.)

Anyone have other suggestions concerning where to exchange VHS videos for a few extra dollars? (Garage sale is really not a good option for me right now, but I reallly need to clear the shelves where my videos currently rest.) Anyone?

I listed a whole bunch of my kids old videos on Amazon.com. No fees till you sell them and they collect the $. They automatically deposit your money for the item and shipping (less selling fees) into your checking account every 2 weeks. I've made about $280 in the last 6 weeks. Most of them were between $2.49 and $4.25.

Just curious....how do you list your shipping fees for your videos? Is there a relative standard charge for shipping or does it vary greatly?

Amazon sets the shipping costs. For videos, they charge $2.49 for media mail or $4.99 for "expdited shipping" (read: priority mail). The actual cost to ship a video is $1.42 for media mail or $3.85 for priority so they do give you a little extra for buying packaging etc.

MUCH faster to list than on ebay, you aren't notified of the sale till the buyer has already paid and all you have to do is ship it.

I have sold many VHS videos (nondisney) on ebay. I got a good price for a lot of older Mary - Kate and Ashely (Olsen) videos.

Your best best is to sell them in groups of about 4 or 5. Put them into groups that kind of go together. I sold a group of Mary Kate and Ashley (old ones), a group of really young kid ones like blues clues and spot, a group of power rangers, etc.

Put them in like lots and check their "status" on completed sales. I agree, the Mary Kate and Ashley videos always sell! I've also had success with:

Beginners Bible
VeggieTales
Arthur
Shirley Temple
Touched By an Angel
Madeline
Magic School Bus.

Some are more valuable than others but they all usually sell in lots.

It's my opinion too that posting them in groups for 3-5 is the best way to go too. I believe shipping tapes can be considered Media mail, which is cheaper to mail. Look to see what other ebay sellers are charging for that many videos. That will give you a great idea for your shipping charges. or...you can weigh them at the post office, go to www.usps.com and approx shipping costs. don't forget to put them in a box when weighing, as the box will add extra weight ;-)

Also.... when listing your videos...be sure to use the word "lot" & "video" f selling 2 or more. buyers sometimes search other key words! GOOD LUCK!

I too have sold several videos on ebay. I think it helps to weight the item and use the shipping option so people know what they have to pay upfront. I use media mail to ship videos. I also found grouping is the best way.

I sold a group of barney videos once for $25.
