Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere.
I have pins coming out of my ears and need to start thinning out ones that just don't *grab* me.
I know a lot of Ebay sellers here.
Can you explain the selling way that works best for you? (One item at a time, or in lots, or both?)
And what is the advantage of listing a bid at (example) $.99 and setting a reserve at a higher $? (If there are advantages, I would do this, but state in the description the reserve amount.)
What works for you and what hasn't?
TIA all!

This thread http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=349235 is subtitled EBAY YOUR WAY TO DISNEY and hopefully it will help you! It's got a lot of great information you can read through, and then if you still need help there are some helpful folks there, too.

I don't have any pins to sell, and I've just started listing with their encouragement, so I don't feel qualified to give you any advice myself!

Hey Luv! Kinda strange to be posting to you outside the collector's board or PM's ;) I don't have much experience selling, but I can give you some tips on the buying patterns and what sells/how it sells since I do alot of buying! :D

1) Alot of people who live by the parks post pins for sale at a small mark-up. They're either trying to make a small living or paying for their AP! I've noticed that if the mark-up is too high it won't sell-unless it's a high demand pin that may have sold out. So if you have any new releases to sell that are high demand give them a try on eBay. Keep in mind that you'll deal with more work for eBay, and the chance of non-payers. 1 out of 11 sales was a non-payer, and I've fought for a month to try and contact her for payment before I finally gave up. If you post a thread on Dizpins it's much faster and easier for payment and no auction fees. The trade off would be you're taking the chance of selling it for less on Dizpins than you could have gotten on eBay.

2) Older pins (e-tickets, HM, parrot dangle, DL Paris hotties) pins sell for pretty good $ on eBay. I've also seen them posted on Dizpins and people have gotten good $ for them there, too. (I sold a DL Lilo & Stitch kissing for $63 on eBay, and wouldn't have gotten that kind of money on Dizpins). I haven't seen any reserves set for pins, except for the marc davis maleficent pin, but that took less than a day to meet the reserve, anyway.

3) If you have some traders/rack pins that you're trying to get rid of and don't have that high of a demand, I've seen them sold two ways with good results: one, put a group together to auction as a "lot" of pins. You can include one or two hotties and they should sell pretty well. Two, put a list together and post it on Dizpins. Pins are sold so fast off the boards there that you practically have to be the first to read the seller's post to get the hot pins.

These are just my opinions, and you can do what you want, but it's how I would handle the selling:

Do some research with Dizpins and eBay. Do searches on eBay to monitor how certain pins are selling, kind of get a feel for what's hot on eBay and will sell for sure, and what's not selling at all. Then, look at Dizpins and see what others are selling and what amounts they're asking. Put the pins you know will sell on eBay, and the others put in a post on Dizpins. (of course, all this is assuming you would want to use their site! :D )

Let me know how it's going-hopefully you'll have better luck selling than you've had with some of the trading! ;)

The best way to see how the pins would make you the most money is to go to eBay, click on search/advanced/completed auctions and see how others have made out.

The reason most people use a reserve, is some feel that they can grab interest by having a really low price show up in the search...and perhaps people not knowing the reserve, will hope it's low. YOu have to pay for the reserve, if your item doesn't hit the reserve, however. I personally seldom use a reserve (I used one when others always start the item I'm selling at $1.00..and I wanted to be next to them in the searched). If you put an item up at 9.95, the cost is .3o..unless you have a reserve..then the price you are charged to list, goes by the reserve amount, as well as the actual reserve cost if it doesn't hit the reserve.

Good Luck!
Doris

Thanks all! Any guidance is appreciated. I have sold a few pins on Ebay. But not much. I am a real novice in the selling dept. ;)
I started reading the other thread. That looks like an all day project. ;)
