I have decided to sell some books on Ebay. We are moving AGAIN and this time don't want to move stuff just to put in the closet. And I want to make a little extra money so....
I sold 1 book so far and the buyer paid immediately through Paypal. But I have not received the money. Does it usually take awhile? My Paypal acct does not even show an amt. pending:confused3
What am I missing?:confused3

my thought is that they paid with a checking account thru Paypal...I think that is not instant payment to the seller. or...they may have paid the wrong account?? but if you sent them an invoice that isn't possible.
so I am thinking check....:confused3

How do you know the buyer paid right away?
Somewhere there should be a record of the paypal payment being made if it was completed. It's possible that paypal is holding the funds for 21 days - or until the item shows as delivered or the buyer leaves feedback - but if that's the case, it'll still show up in paypal, just not as available to withdraw yet.

If you are selling primarily books, you might want to look into www.half.com.

It is a division of Ebay. You post your books by entering the isbn # and rating the book's condition. It is really easy. Half.com takes a commission, but only if the book sells (no listing fees, etc..). They even charge the seller standard shipping and reimburse you a set fee (which so far has always been more than what it really costs me). The customers have to pay before you get the message that says you have made a sale.

If the buyer says he paid right away and your PayPal account is not showing any payment received. The ONLY thing that could have happened is that email address used to pay is incorrect.

Ask the buyer to forward you the email that HE received from PayPal (the payment receipt) It will show the email the payment was sent to.

**Make sure your eBay email for payment is the same as your PayPal account email.

If, as the PPs were mentioning, the holds (21 days) on the funds, or an echeck pending - those payments would still show up in your account.

The book was bought late last night and she sent a payment before I sent the invoice.

On my ebay it shows under the transaction that a payment is sent.

Going to have to look into that. Thanks.

After much frustration I figured out that is exactly what happened. Apparently our ebay acct and paypal acct are seperate emails and passwords. :confused3

It took me YEARS to sell books on half.com and a week to sell them on eBay. It also takes too long to get the money.
