Ebay Question

I ordered custom crib bedding from a certain seller on ebay. She had awesome feedback scores and we were in contact with each other frequently about some customizatons I wanted. I paid for the set on Sept. 20 and it was supposed to take 6-8 weeks to make and ship it. So actually it hasn't yet been 8 weeks yet. I had also been in contact with her about making me some cushions for a rocking chair to match the bedding. She emailed me with an invoice for them and I emailed her back a question. That was about three weeks ago and I haven't heard from her since. I noticed last night that this particular seller doesn't have any current listings on ebay and her last feedback was negative and the buyer said something like "items never shipped, seller never responded to emails, never refunded money." The only reason I'm even nervous yet is because most of the crib bedding I have looked at takes 6-8 weeks to ship and the baby is due in January. I do realize that if she gets here before her bedding does it won't be a big deal since she's going to be in our room anyway at first, but I was hoping to have nursery finished by Christmas.

Any advice? What do I do if I never hear from the seller again by the 8 week mark?

Did you pay by Paypal using a credit card? If so, I'd file a Paypal chargeback to protect myself, and then I'd also file a credit card chargeback within the 60-day time window. It sounds like this seller may have disappeared if you're not the only one who can't get in touch with him/her. At the very least, protect your right to get your money back.

I did pay with Paypal using my checking account. What is a chargeback? Sorry - I know very little about all of this and I've been lucky because I've never had a problem with ebay.

Does anybody know what a chargeback is?

You can do a chargeback by logging into Paypal and going through their Buyer Protection Program. You have to do this within so many days of the auction close, though. I'm not sure how many days you have to initiate a claim.

BTW, I use Paypal to pay for auctions, but I always opt to pay with my credit card just in case. It doesn't hurt to also have the credit card chargeback option available to you.
