I'm new to selling on ebay - last week I successfully sold about a half dozen items. They went quickly and easily so in my excitement I listed 10 more items. (a variety of things from pocket books to scrapbooking stuff) Well I guess my beginners luck has run out, because with only 2 days left on my auctions, there's not a single bid - not even anyone watching any items. I've revised my listings to add a theme, played around with categories etc. but nothing. Should I be discouraged? Am I doing something wrong?

I'm beginning to think all the work of listing, shipping, (and obsessing over logging in to ebay all the time to check my listings), plus all the fees make the experience not really worth it. That's too bad because I was really pumped when I made my first $150! When all's said and done do you think it's really worth your time?

Thanks for your input!!

We sold some stuff on ebay last year right before Christmas and everything sold!! Then we tried again in the Springtime and a good amount of our items did not sell :( I know that the summer time is a really slow time to sell things on ebay because everyone is outside enjoying the weather and going on vacations.

So my advise to you is to wait a few more months and try again. We are going to put more items up in the beginning of Oct and see how that goes.

Good luck!:wave2:

I've learned that most of my items sell towards the end of the auction. You may be surprised and get bids within the last two days. If not, maybe you are starting them too high.

Yesterday I had 13 things ending. When I looked in the a.m. I only had 4 bids on all 13. They ended about 10 hrs later and all but 1 sold. Many of them received multiple bids too.

A thing to remember is if you sell in a really popular category it could be awhile for your item to be seen. I know when I do my own ebay shopping I tend to look at the ending soonest and newly listed. So if your item has between it's first 12 and last 12 hrs-- I most likely wouldn't see it. Especially if there are 5000 pages of items for sale.

Ebay is never guaranteed funds, but if you stick w/ it-- it can be a good source of extra income. Enough to make it worth your while.

one thing to do is look for items like yours and see how many have sold and how many have not
