I used to do quite a bit of selling on ebay, but in the last year or so, I've just lost an interest for it. But, I am selling something for my mom.

I listed the item last night and overnight I have had 5 people from Japan ask me if I'd sell to Japan. I have shipped to Canada before, but never Japan. I have no problem doing this, but how much of a hassle is it? I, of course, want to get as much as possible for this for my mom.

My DD wanted a souvenir from WDW that she had gotten five years ago. They don't have them anymore, so I checked ebay. What she paid $25 for 5 years ago is selling for $350 on ebay. My mom happens to own it, so we are selling it. And just a side note, I'm sure if my DD wanted the one my mom has she'd give it to her, but it's the wrong color.

I think I sold something to an international buyer on ebay once. The only thing I remember is that I underestimated the shipping cost. I should have doubled the amount.

Shipping internationally is not a big problem although the shipping company might request a bill of sale and a few other documents.

Good luck on the sale!

Definately do some investigating about shipping costs. Not sure about your post office but mine has a scale in their lobby where you can get an idea of cost by entering the destination and weighing your item. Should at least get you close to the actual amount.

When I ship internationally I usually do it through the post office and they require a customs form to be filled out. It's no big deal - a couple of lines. I usually grab a hand full and keep them on my desk and fill them out before heading to the P.O. - saves a ton of time.

Hope you get a good price :thumbsup2

This is somewhat off topic- but thank you for this post! You reminded me there was an auction i needed to check!!! :goodvibes

All right. I've decided to sell internationally. I've done it before. I just now need to get to the post office and weigh it. I'm not sure why it is so popular in Japan, though. It's just a stuffed Mickey Teddy Bear.

Shipping can be very expensive. I ship to my daughters foster family in China often- a shoe size box, depending on the weight can cost up to $45. So if you are serious and are willing, I would take it to the post office and find out how much shipping would be first, other than that the customs form is pretty simple to fill out. Happy selling- I am actually posting something today to sell- :)

I was just doing a little research and the person who is bidding on my item also sold the exact same item right before Christmas time. They sold theirs for $355. Suppose they are going to turn around and sell it again?

They could. That happens all too often on eBay. Is it one of these bears?:

I've seen these go for huge amounts... they're really popular on eBay. I'm glad I bought one in WDW when I did. He's my favorite teddy bear and goes everywhere with me :) I'm trying to get another one on eBay now actually lol

That is very possible. My husband buys and resells lots of stuff on Ebay. A lot of people are not willing to ship internationally and with some of the items that is where the big money is. My husband has stuff shipped from Japan all the time and ships stuff all over the world he sells on Ebay. He has become very good at it and knows all the rules. He often has to explain the rules to the workers at our local post office. I would say go for it, but make sure you have enough money for shipping. Also I think there is an extra Paypal fee for international, if you are accepting Paypal.

Yep. That's the one, only ours is purple. I was amazed when they sold for that much money. The other purple one I found went for $355. DD bought a blue one five years ago, and believe me when I say that thing has been well loved. I bought the purple one for my mom when we returned, and it's just sat. When I told her how much they were selling for, she decided to sell. I love the bear and I wish Disney would carry them again (right after I've sold mine). They had all sorts of colors. I think the story surrounding them is so neat. And, I think the bear is adorable.

Well, I think it was a good idea to open it up to Japan. My item has been bid up to $430 for my bear. I don't quite understand what the appeal is????? My mom is very excited, though.

Oh wow - how exciting. Let us know what it finishes at :thumbsup2

That's great! I saw a purple one go for $300 the other day- they're in such demand- Disney needs to make them again.
