EBAY Question- Please Help!!

Thanks in advance for any help! I have an item up for sale and someone jsut emailed me to ask if I would sell it to them early. They will pay $22 for an item that is at $9 right now. First, I think that is probably rude and makes the whole auction thing pointless. But, can that even be done? I would think that it is against the rule besides just being wrong. Unless she needs it sooner for some reason. What are my experts' opinions on this? Have you ever done this or been asked. Thanks again!!

Never mind, I just had a chance to re-read the FAQs and see that the advice here is not to do that. I agree with it not being fair, so I emailed the person telling them that I'd be happy to overnight their item at their expense if they were the highest bidder (jsut in case it's a need-now situations), but that I didn't feel right ending the bidding early. Sorry for the question that was already answered. I usually read the FAQs first!

You followed good advice. Normally people will email sellers to end an auction early in hopes to get the item cheaper than they would if the item went until the end of the auction. Typically buyers will bid up the item within the last few minutes of an auction end. Your item may sell for more than $22, if it does great. If the seller is interested, he should then simply bid on the item. ALSO, if you handle the transaction outside of ebay (against ebay rules), you will not be covered by ebay (or paypal) should you have a problem with the seller not paying, etc. You did the right thing.
