Ebay question, non payment?

Hi!

I had two auctions finish Friday night and have not been paid for either one of them yet. How long before I report them to Ebay for non payment and offer the second highest bidder a chance to buy them? I am rather disappointed, one was for a rather high priced item. I have never had a problem with anyone on Ebay, either buying or selling.

Before reporting them I would attempt to contact the winning bidder and see what the hold-up is. Things happen. Hopefully all will work out in the end. Good luck.

The standard is 7 days. Even if you stated a different time frame in the auction, Ebay will not take a report for 7 days.

Expecting payment less than 48 hours is unfair to any buyer, IMO.

if it is a really high-priced item, maybe the bidder needs to move money before paying?

I usually send a reminder email after 5 days, and if no response, I will file a unpaid report after 8 days. You then have to wait another 7 days before the case can close and you can make a second chance offer. It can make you nervous to wait for someone to pay, but most people with decent feedback will pay.

I don't think you should even be mildly concerned until Monday evening, and even then they have 7 days.

You can report them next Friday night. Ebay requires you to give buyers 7 days to pay.

Thanks guys! The only thing that makes me nervous is that this buyer has 0 feedback and has had teh account since last summer.

I think sending a friendly e-mail today, complete with amount owed and payment instructions, is completely in order. When I buy something from EBay, oftentimes the seller will send an immediate personal e-mail receipt/reminder in addition to the automatic one I get from EBay.

If they do not contact you back (saying my dog ate my wallet or whatever) then I'd send an additional somewhat-friendly reminder in another day or two. And maybe at the 6-day mark another e-mail mentioning that if no payment is received, the consequences that happen after 7 days (losing out on the item, filing a non-payment notice with EBay, etc., ...but you do have to give them that 7 days first.
