Ebay/Paypal Question!

Good morning all, happy Friday!

Last night I won an item on ebay, and when I went to pay for it, got the message that the seller's paypal account could not currently accept my payment. When I contacted them, they said "our payment option was updated but ebay was unable to update all of our auctions before they ended". They want me to go on paypal and type in their email address and include the item number in order to pay.

Is this legit? It seems to me there won't be a trail through ebay if the transaction is completed this way, but I'm no ebay expert, so I wanted to check!

Paypal provides protection for sending money so I'm sure it would be fine, read the paypal terms of service to be sure. Do you have a paypal acct? You can click send money and type in an email address to send money to.

Thanks, I will read the paypal terms of service. I do have a paypal account, so doing it isn't a problem. I just worried that there would be no record of my payment through ebay.

Should be no problem. You can also manually mark a transaction as "paid" in eBay. Just make sure your communication with the seller is through eBay's message system and you'll have a record of what was said and done.
